At the door, Denton lowered his head.

Savannah jumped at the opening and stirred the flames. “Denton, your brother’s gone. You’re part of this family too. You can’t just step aside during the inheritance fight.”

Denton said nothing.

“Every cent Harold left Curtis went straight into Langford Group. There is no inheritance left to split.” Matthew’s voice cut through the tension. Cold and firm. His eyes locked on Savannah.

She flinched at the weight of his tone but forced herself to speak. “What about his houses, the trusts, the jewelry? Curtis didn’t exactly die broke.”

Curtis had left behind enough to fund several lifetimes.

“Adriana, cremate him soon,” Matthew said again, more firmly this time.

“Okay…” Adriana nodded.

“Even if you’re doing that, Denton deserves to see his brother one last time,” Savannah said quickly. She wanted to see the body herself.

She needed proof Curtis was really dead.

Adriana drew a long breath. She pulled out the IV, got out of bed, and looked at Kenneth with her face drained of color. “Take me to him.”

“Denton, let’s go too,” Savannah urged, trying to drag him along.

Adriana turned and stared her down. Her voice was icy. “Who gave you the right to follow? Get

out.”

Savannah’s jaw clenched. Her eyes burned with fury, but she held it in.

She shot Adriana a sharp glare and stayed quiet. Let the funeral pass. After that, she’d see what Adriana had left to stand on.

“Mrs. Lincoln … Curtis is…” The butler burst down the hall, out of breath. The second he got the news, he had jumped on a plane.

He’d worked for the Lincolns for decades. Harold and Curtis both trusted him. He was Savannah’s father.

Adriana couldn’t stand Savannah, but she knew when to draw the line.

“I raised Curtis. I watched him grow up…” the butler’s voice cracked. “Let me be the one to send

him off.”

He had brought clothes for Curtis. The same ones Curtis used to wear when he still lived in the Lincoln estate. He wanted to dress him one last time.

“Okay,” Adriana said.

Savannah let out a slow breath. She couldn’t get her dad to side with her, but at least through him, she could pick up details. She’d know soon enough if Curtis was really dead.
