“If you want to die, die alone! Don’t take the family down with you. Even Curtis is dead now. Maybe think about that for a second.”
Raymond stormed off.
Matthew had no plans to follow orders. He was going to drag this out. He wanted to see if the man behind it all would finally come out for the money.
“Mr. Langford, Ainsworth Group just snagged the Westsidedevelopment rights. Three firms are still in the fight for Haldoria. Your focus hasn’t been on the projects lately, and Huaihai slipped up. We didn’t expect Ainsworth Group to move in so fast. Their growth over the past few years has been insane,” the assistant rushed in, visibly nervous.
Matthew stayed silent. None of them realized it yet, but ever since Curtis‘ “death” hit the headlines, Ainsworth Group had been gaining momentum.
When Ainsworth stood at the top, after stepping on every other player, maybe then these people would realize just how stupid they had been.
Did they really believe Curtis stayed on top of Harborton’s business scene all these because he was Harold Lincoln’s grandson?

The whole game was a joke. The man behind the curtain, Raymond, and all the ones trying to erase Curtis to protect their own power–they were all clowns.
Hotel.
Ernest Feron sat on the couch in his suite, staring out the window. He sighed.
Harold Lincoln was dead. Curtis too. The Lincolns were shattered.
He had stayed by their side for years, seeing them rise and fall. One by one, he watched their people disappear.
He got to his feet with a sigh. Just as he reached for the door, someone knocked.
“Dad, it’s me.” Savannah stepped into the room and glanced at her father. His eyes were puffy and red. “Tell me the truth. Was the one who died really Mr. Curtis?”
Ernest stared at her, frowning. “What kind of question is that? I dressed him myself. Of course

it was him.”

Savannah waved her hand. “That’s not what I meant. The Lincolns have too many enemies. I just wondered if someone switched the body. What if the real Mr. Curtis is still alive somewhere?”
She had said it just to rattle him.
Ernest stopped moving. He leaned against the wall and slowly shook his head. “No way. I watched him grow up. I know every birthmark on that boy’s body. That was Mr. Curtis. No doubt.”
Savannah finally let herself breathe. She had tested her father again and again. The answer never changed. Curtis was dead.
“There were too many people who wanted Mr. Curtis out of the picture,” the butler muttered, then looked at her seriously. “He had power. He had money. That made him a target. I always figured something like this would happen. But Harold raised you. He gave you everything you have. Now that the Lincolns are gone, you need to protect Mr. Denton. Nothing must happen to him.”
Savannah gave a sweet smile. “Don’t worry, Dad. I’ll look after Mr. Denton. I even bought him a house with my own money. I really want what’s best for him.”
The butler nodded, satisfied. “All that money came from Harold anyway. Spending it on Mr. Curtis‘ family is the right thing. You did well. I’m getting old. It’s time I go back to Harborton to watch over the old place. Just make sure that boy is safe. He’s the last Lincoln left.”
“I promise, Dad,” Savannah said as she nodded. Then she turned and walked out fast, barely hiding the spark in her eyes. As soon as she stepped outside, she called Danielle.
“My dad confirmed it again. That was Curtis‘ body. He’s dead for sure. No doubt. He even checked the birthmark when he dressed the body himself.” She grinned as she said it. Danielle and the people behind her could finally celebrate.
And Adriana? She was finished. She had pissed off too many people because of Curtis. Now it was her turn to pay.
“I heard Mia went insane in prison. The Langfords have already applied for medical parole,” Savannah added with a chuckle.
Out of everyone in the world, only Mia had both the hatred and the medical excuse.
She was the sharpest weapon they could use. And that weapon was about to be aimed at Adriana.

After the accident, Yolanda worried that someone might try to hurt Adriana. She moved in with her right away.
The Lincoln family vultures crawled out again to fight over what was left. They claimed Curtis had invested all of Harold Lincoln’s assets. Matthew shut them down. He said that investment money wasn’t up for grabs.
But they still circled like rats. They argued Curtis and Adriana were newlyweds with no children. They said Adriana had no right to the rest of Curtis‘ wealth.
“Adriana, you weren’t even married to him that long. You didn’t even give him a kid. What makes you think

deserve everything?” one of them snapped. All the relatives would not let
the goodies slip. Even Michael got dragged into the mess.
“I’m Curtis‘ father. I have the right to inherit too,” he said, trying to sound steady.
