Chapter 343 Yolanda and Denton
Chapter 343 Yolanda and Denton
She really did see him as a kid.
With a quiet sigh, Denton slipped off the bed and padded out onto the balcony.

News from back home had just come in–Savannah now knew all about Ernest’s mistress and
secret son.
Denton sank into the wicker chair, lit a cigarette, and scrolled through the updates on his phone, a cold smile tugging at his lips.
Things were about to get very lively in Haldoria.
Savannah and Ernest were at each other’s throats… the curtain on that show was finally lifting.
And that wasn’t all.
Justin had started to move as well.
Danielle had gotten herself good and drunk. The more she drank, the angrier she became, until she staggered over to Justin’s place in the middle of the night, insisting on seeing him and jabbing a finger at his nose.
“Justin, you’re nothing but a dog the Bartons raised. Did you forget who your master is?”
She was furious. In her mind, Justin, like the Barton inheritance, should have belonged to her.
The real Nicole being dead for good would be ideal–then Justin, too, would become part of the “estate,” her loyal dog.
Justin stepped out of his bedroom and took one look at her. “What are you doing, making a scene in the middle of the night?”
Danielle glared, eyes bloodshot. “You’re not allowed to get that close to Savannah. I forbid it.”
Justin’s tone stayed light. “And why, exactly?”
“Because she is not a good person. She’s poison. If you stay with her, nothing good will come of it, Justin…” Danielle was well past tipsy, her voice going hoarse and shaky.
Some of that was the alcohol. The rest was pure unwillingness to let go.

Justin glanced at the housekeeper. “Ms. Danielle’s had too much. Get the guest room ready and let her sleep it off.”
The housekeeper nodded and moved to help.
The fact that Danielle spent the night at Justin’s place spread through their social circle in no time.
And after that little scene at his door, Justin went an entire week without so much as texting Savannah.
Over in Haldoria, Savannah was losing her mind.
When she heard Danielle had bad–mouthed her to his face, she shoved all the blame onto
Danielle.
If that was how they wanted to play … then every obstacle in her path–Ernest’s secret son, Danielle the love rival–would have to go. None of them could be allowed to stay.
Pastalia.
When Adriana got back from campus, Curtis was nowhere in the estate.
She walked through the house once–no Curtis, no Yolanda, no Denton.
Something was off. Very off.
“Irene, where did everyone go?” Adriana asked, glancing at the half–empty living room where Irene was sprawled on the couch scrolling through domestic entertainment gossip.
Ever since she’d arrived in Pastalia, Irene had insisted Adriana call her in a more intimate tone. She said it sounded closer. Adriana had gotten used to it.
She sank beside her, eyeing the quiet house. “Seriously, where did they all disappear to?”
“How should I know?” Irene put her phone down, just as confused. “Curtis went out with Gary. I swear, the sun must be rising in the west today.” She frowned. “You don’t think those two went out just to beat each other up, do you?”
Adriana felt a twinge of worry. If they really did start swinging … then what?
Gary definitely looked like he could handle himself.
He’d almost become a special forces soldier back in the day.

And his security company might be called a “security firm” back home, but overseas it was basically … a mercenary outfit.
“I’ll give him a call,” Irene said quickly when she saw Adriana’s tension.
“As an elder, I can’t let them go too far.
“You’re about to give birth–if he wants to hit Curtis, he can at least wait until after you deliver.”
She dialed Gary’s number. No answer.
That was when Irene really started to panic.
Gary was the kind of man who would pick up her call even during a dangerous mission.
“And Yolanda and Denton have been off together for, what, a week now? Still not back. Those two…” Irene muttered under her breath.
Adriana had been about to call them when the front door opened, and Denton and Yolanda finally walked in.
But something was very, very wrong.
Yolanda and Denton came in one behind the other. Denton’s head was down, shoulders stiff, and he went straight past them into the hallway without saying a word.
Yolanda’s expression was awkward at best. She forced a laugh. “Ha … I’m not feeling great. I’m gonna head to my room first.”
Adriana and Irene exchanged a long look. “Irene, did you notice something… off?” Adriana asked.
Irene narrowed her eyes. “Extremely off.”
One grown man and one grown woman out together for a whole week, sharing hotels during peak tourist season … It would be a miracle if absolutely nothing had happened.
Curiosity got the better of Adriana. She pushed herself up and shuffled down the hall to Yolanda’s room, knocking before slipping inside. “So, what happened between you and Denton? Something feels weird.”
Irene, meanwhile, flopped back on the sofa and covered her face with one hand. “Adriana, I’ve wronged you…”
Adriana blinked and sat down beside her. “What’s going on?”

“I took Denton out to have some fun. I swear to God, I treated him like a kid. A little brother. Then, last night, I went to a bar by myself, and someone started eyeing me. I had a few drinks, and… you know what that’s like. I blacked out. Don’t remember a thing. And then… I’m the villain. I hurt the kid.” Yolanda covered her face, couldn’t meet Adriana’s eyes, and pulled a pillow over her head.
