The more Clara listened, the angrier she became. She had come here to settle a score with Natalie and get the villa back.
But with Terence Lockwood here, fiercely defending Natalie, all the humiliating insults she had rehearsed were stuck in her throat. She hadn't been able to get out more than a few sentences.
It was clear Terence was backing Natalie all the way.
If she couldn't humiliate her, she could at least make her give up the property. A two-hundred-million-dollar property.
Clara’s voice was grim. “Natalie, this villa belongs to my father. Since you’re so close to the Lockwood family, why don’t you move in with them and return this house to me?”
Clara had already started planning her response if Natalie refused, so she was taken aback when Natalie replied without hesitation, “This house was only ever a temporary residence for me. If you want it back, I can leave immediately.”
Was it really that simple? Clara was almost suspicious.
Just then, Terence suddenly took Natalie’s hand. “Well, now you have no excuse not to live at the Lockwood estate, do you?” he said, a charming smile playing on his lips as he raised an eyebrow.
One moment, Natalie was being publicly evicted, a pitiful figure about to be cast out. The next, Terence’s words had transformed the scene into something nauseatingly sweet.
Evicted like a stray dog? Not at all. She had a much better place to go.
Natalie looked at Terence, feeling as if they were speaking different languages. Why did she suddenly not understand a word he was saying?
No excuse not to live at the Lockwood estate?
Natalie frowned slightly. She didn’t understand what he meant, but she had a feeling he was deliberately creating a misunderstanding for the media.
