Caught Him Cheating My Life Restarted (Natalie) novel Chapter 18

Victoria’s eyes filled with admiration. "Old Mr. Fairchild might be avoiding you now, but when he sees something that interests him, he'll come to you. The deal might still have a chance. Marie, you are truly incredible. Only you can truly help Darren."

As she spoke, Victoria shot a disgusted look at Natalie. She never held back her praise for Marie, nor did she ever hide her disdain for Natalie.

Though both were her daughters-in-law, their treatment was worlds apart.

Darren said, "I'll handle the paintings. You've had a long day. Just finish your dinner."

"You know my personality. Old Mr. Fairchild avoided me today; tomorrow, I will make him come to me. He has a vast collection, so not just any piece will catch his eye. I must select it myself."

Marie stood to leave, but Victoria stopped her.

"Marie, a young woman like you shouldn't have to work so hard. Darren, you go with her and help."

Marie smiled. "There's no need, Mother. Darren is busy educating his child right now. He works all day and only has this short evening to enjoy some family time. I shouldn't interrupt. It's tiring for me to go alone, but it's all worth it for Hanley."

After her speech, Marie shot a provocative glance at Natalie and left.

"Darren, what are you waiting for? Go! Marie has been busy all day. Are you going to let her handle this alone now?"

Victoria unleashed a torrent of abuse. Natalie’s eyes were cold. "Your condition now is much better than when I first married into this family five years ago. As I recall, you were paralyzed in bed back then."

When Natalie had first arrived, Victoria had been paralyzed by a stroke. Despite being pregnant, Natalie had cared for her, brewing medicinal soups and performing acupuncture. It was under her treatment that Victoria had recovered.

But Victoria refused to admit that her recovery had anything to do with Natalie.

"That's because Marie hired the best doctors for me! She is a Ward; she has access to the best resources. Are you trying to take credit? With those few bowls of disgusting soup you made, and poking me with needles while I couldn't feel anything? Ha! How ridiculous."

Victoria’s laughter was full of scorn. Natalie replied with chilling indifference, "Such extreme emotional fluctuations aren't good for your health. Unless you'd like to have another stroke?"
