Caught Him Cheating My Life Restarted (Natalie) novel Chapter 20

"Besides what was on the table, what else did you eat?"

"I... ate... some almonds."

"You're allergic to nuts! Why would you eat almonds?"

"Auntie... Auntie said that to be an heir, you can't have any weaknesses. So... so I have to overcome my allergies. Auntie said since I'm still young, if I eat a little bit now, I won't be allergic when I grow up!"

"Hanley, are you a fool? She's lying to you! You're allergic to nuts. If you eat too many, you could die!"

"You're the one who's lying to me, Mommy! You're too weak! You should always try to overcome your flaws. That's what Auntie taught me!"

Watching Hanley fight through his discomfort, Natalie was consumed by rage.

He had been so thoroughly brainwashed by Marie.

If she didn't get Hanley away from here, he would die at Marie’s hands.

"Take your allergy medicine, now!"

"No! I won't! If I can just push through this, it won't be so bad. If I eat a little more, I'll get used to it!"

Hanley struggled violently, refusing to take the medicine.

Natalie slapped him across the face. The sound echoed in the quiet room. Hanley was stunned.

His mommy had never hit him before.

Natalie forced the allergy pill into his mouth and made him swallow.

"You're a bad mommy! You hit me! And you forced me to take medicine. I could have gotten through it on my own. It's just like Auntie said, you did it on purpose! You want me to be dependent on you, to never grow up!"

"Hanley, that brain on your shoulders isn't just for decoration! Marie is trying to harm you. Wake up!"

His passenger seat belonged to her!

"You're not that immature."

"I may not be immature, but I am a woman. And women get jealous."

Marie’s hand suddenly brushed against Darren’s knee. She purred, "Is it true that once a man cheats, he feels guilty, regardless of whether he loves his wife?"

"I'm driving. Don't mess around."

Darren dodged the question. Marie laughed softly. "Natalie stays home to wash clothes and cook meals, while I stand beside you in the boardroom, fighting by your side. We had such a good thing going, why did you have to ruin it? Why did you agree to let her hire chefs, and why did you insist Hanley respect her? You know I treat Hanley as if he were my own son."

"She is publicly Mrs. Cross. It was just hiring a chef, it’s not a big deal. I know you're wonderful to Hanley, but she had an amniotic fluid embolism when she gave birth to him. She walked through the gates of hell and back. Hanley shouldn't treat her that way."

"Darren, you've changed. You're actually defending that woman. She crawled into your bed as part of a scheme with that gambling-addict father of hers. How could you possibly have feelings for a dirty, low-class country bumpkin like her?"
