“You’re the mother, isn’t that what you should do? Do you really need to hold a grudge against your own child?” Darren said, still condescending, trying to use her role as a mother to manipulate her.
“Guilt-tripping a mother is the most shameful thing a person can do,” Patrick said, his eyes cold.
Lucas added, “Sir, haven’t you ever heard of ungrateful brats or disrespectful sons? If you have one of those, why keep them around? Just to give yourself a heart attack?”
Patrick and Lucas were both speaking up for Natalie. Liana squeezed her hand for comfort and glared fiercely at Darren. This man was horrible for making Natalie sad.
“This is our family business,” Darren said. “Don’t you think you’re being nosy?”
Suddenly, a fleet of luxury cars pulled up. Terence remained in the passenger seat, his expression grim. Several bodyguards emerged from the vehicles and bowed in unison to Natalie and the children.
“Ma’am, Young Master, Young Miss, we’ve come to take you home.”
The Lockwood family’s arrival was grand, and the bodyguards had called her “Ma’am.”
Darren grabbed Natalie’s hand again. “When did you become the ‘ma’am’ of their family? Have you thought about Hanley’s feelings? Are you really going to give up the chance to fix your relationship with your son?”
Lucas swatted Darren’s hand away. “Let go of her. We’re going home. Natalie is our family now. She doesn’t have any ‘family business’ with you anymore.”
Patrick glanced at his competitor. It seemed there was always a line of suitors for Natalie, no matter the time or place. But at least she was free from Darren.
“Patrick, I’m leaving now,” Natalie said.
“Go on. Any longer and you’ll be emotionally blackmailed again.” He would talk to her about joining his institute another day.
As Natalie left, Darren watched, unwilling to let her go.
“I earned that award with my own skills! You don’t know anything!”
Suddenly, Darren approached Marie. She assumed he was upset about her disrespect toward his mother.
“Darren, I didn’t mean to be so harsh with Mom. It’s just that I hate it when people question my abilities.”
His face was grim. “Did you really manipulate the results to take what belonged to Natalie?”
Marie was stunned. Had he not heard a word she’d just said?
“Darren, are you not even listening to me anymore? Why are you saying this? Don’t you believe me? We were childhood sweethearts. You, of all people, should know my abilities.”
“That award might not have meant much to you, but it was everything to Natalie.”

Time for Marie to get her end, this has gone on way too long, time to move on. It’s getting boring....
Payback time. Waiting for chapters 321 onwards!...
I love the sarcastic comebacks. Quite amusing!...
