Caught Him Cheating My Life Restarted (Natalie) novel Chapter 24

"Don't worry, Auntie. When I grow up, I'll help you. I'll take on the responsibilities of the Cross Group. Even if my mommy and daddy get divorced, I won't go with her."

Marie stroked Hanley's head. "Such a good, sensible boy."

Her eyes grew colder, harder.

...

Upstairs, in the bedroom.

"Darren, let me go!"

Darren dragged Natalie into the bedroom and threw her onto the bed.

She tried to get up, but he pushed her back down.

He pinned her down, sitting on top of her and trapping her wrists with his hands.

"Natalie, I warned you. Never mention divorce. Why won't you listen?"

His grip was crushing; Natalie felt like her wrists were about to snap.

His eyes blazed with an anger mixed with a strange hint of panic.

For a split second, it felt like he truly cared about her. But if he really cared, how could he be cheating on her with his sister-in-law?

How can a person love two people at once?

"Darren, if you don't want your precious Marie to be wronged, you should divorce me."

"She's my sister-in-law! How could you even think that about us? I asked you to respect her, why do you insist on twisting it into something sordid? What do you want me to do?"

"Divorce me. And let me take Hanley."

"So that's it! Not only do you want a divorce, you want to take my son! What about me? What am I in all this?"

What are you? A cheater. An adulterer!

"Darren, we're not right for each other. A divorce would be better for both of us. Let me take Hanley."

"Don't even think about escaping me, Natalie. Even if you die and turn to ash, your urn will be buried in our family cemetery!"

His gaze was intense, burning. He was furious, possessive. Did he care?

Natalie found it laughable.

"Darren, just let me go. Five years ago, I was grateful that you saved me. I thought I could spend my whole life like this, but I've realized you can't force your way into a world where you don't belong. Your heart is too cold to ever warm up. I give up."

"You think you can just walk away? Who was it that once told me she loved me, that she would be my wife for life, through thick and thin?"

Those vows, once so cherished, now just made her stomach turn.

Natalie let out a scornful laugh, and it seemed to cut Darren to the quick.

He leaned down and bit her shoulder, punishing her.

Natalie flinched, her brow furrowing in pain, but she refused to cry out.
