Darren waited for Natalie to beg for mercy, but she just stared blankly at the ceiling, her voice low and hollow.
"Darren, why did you marry me five years ago? Was it because I was pregnant with Hanley?"
It was a question Natalie had always wanted to ask, but she had been too afraid of the answer.
She knew hearing him say he didn't love her would break her heart, so she never dared to ask.
But now, it didn't matter anymore.
Darren's brow tightened. In that instant, he let her go.
A heavy silence filled the room.
Darren didn't speak. So it was true. Besides Hanley, there was another reason he had married her.
She'd always had a nagging feeling there was more to it.
But she never knew what.
"You remember what happened five years ago? Is this your way of showing gratitude?"
With that, Darren ripped her clothes, just like that night five years ago.
Only back then, she had been the one begging him.
"Darren, get off me!"
Having witnessed him with Marie in the car, his touch now provoked a visceral, physical revulsion in her.
She struggled violently, preparing to kick him where it would hurt most.
Just then, the door was pushed open.
Marie stood in the doorway.
"Well, well. Just a moment ago you were fighting about divorce, and now you're kissing and making up. I guess I shouldn't have bothered coming to play mediator."
Though her tone was light, her eyes were venomous enough to kill.
Darren couldn't believe she kept pushing his buttons like this.
Marie said haughtily, "Natalie, I know you're just jealous of me, so you're making up lies to smear my relationship with Darren. But let me give you some womanly advice: know when to quit. Otherwise, Darren won't keep a wife who insults his sister-in-law in the house. Not even to do my laundry!"
For the past five years, under Darren's constant manipulation, Natalie had indeed cared for Marie like a servant.
At that thought, Natalie's desire to kill Darren intensified.
Darren could feel the chilling coldness in her glare.
"Marie, the Fairchild Conglomerate business is important. Go get the paintings."
Just then, Victoria walked in. "Darren, just grant her the divorce. For five years, she's been a parasite in the Cross family, and now she's the one acting wronged."
Darren's face grew even darker. "This is my and Natalie's bedroom. Do you all think it's a living room? Should I just take the door off its hinges to make it easier for you to come and go?"
Victoria's face fell. Darren turned back to Natalie. "From now on, I'll have someone watch Hanley personally to make sure he doesn't eat anything he's allergic to. This matter is closed. Don't bring it up again. And don't you dare mention those two words again!"

Time for Marie to get her end, this has gone on way too long, time to move on. It’s getting boring....
Payback time. Waiting for chapters 321 onwards!...
I love the sarcastic comebacks. Quite amusing!...
