Caught Him Cheating My Life Restarted (Natalie) novel Chapter 35

Natalie ignored the whispers, speaking with calm composure. "Lucien Hartvelle's portraits are known for their vibrant spirit. He used exquisite technique to capture the essence and emotion of his subjects, breathing life into the canvas. I've always admired his work and spent some time copying it in high school. My version captured the form well enough, but it's a far cry from the original. I never expected someone to artificially age it and pass it off as genuine. It's rather embarrassing, actually."

Her words caused a stir in the room and sent Marie into a rage.

"Natalie, you're nothing but a country bumpkin. The idea that you painted this is laughable. I am Marie Ward. I have a certain reputation in the art appraisal world, and Lucien Hartvelle is my favorite artist. I've studied this painting for five years. How could it possibly be a fake? Old Mr. Fairchild is also an enthusiast of Hartvelle's work. Sir, would you say this painting is a forgery?"

Old Mr. Fairchild stepped forward, examining the painting closely. It was masterfully done, incredibly lifelike.

He couldn't believe it. Their Natalie was not only a skilled doctor but also a remarkable artist.

She was truly a hidden gem.

"You painted this? It's absolutely magnificent."

Old Mr. Fairchild's words made Marie see red.

She had just called Natalie a hick from the sticks. How could he possibly believe her?

"Old Mr. Fairchild, I believe you're being misled. This painting came from my family, the Wards, and was intended as a gift for you. How could it be a fake, let alone painted by her?"

Terence spoke coolly, "Perhaps your intentions were pure, but your expertise is limited, preventing you from recognizing a genuine piece. And, of course, Ms. Verdan's skills are so exceptional, her technique so refined, that she could fool even a seasoned eye."

Terence looked at Natalie, his eyes filled with admiration.

Being looked at with such genuine appreciation was a pleasant feeling.

Still, Natalie averted her gaze slightly. He was probably just helping her out because she had saved his son.

The old man, finding himself suddenly isolated, looked around in confusion.

"Hey, old-timer! You've got a job to do. Get over here."

Edgar Winslow had no choice but to step forward. Old Mr. Fairchild said, "Mr. Winslow, you are an expert in art appraisal. We would be grateful if you could lend us your expertise."

"Old Mr. Fairchild, I will certainly give it my full attention."

Mr. Winslow took out a magnifying glass and examined the painting meticulously, letting out a sound of admiration.

"This is an exceptional piece of work."

Hearing this, Marie instantly felt vindicated. She shot Natalie a smug smirk. "Natalie, it's time for a reality check. You should spend more time reading at home instead of making a fool of yourself in public and disgracing the Cross family."
