On their way back after being thrown out, Darren and Marie were shocked to receive news that the Fairchild family wanted to partner with them. Apparently, Natalie had written a proposal that had won Old Mr. Fairchild's approval.
Marie almost coughed up blood from rage, while Darren felt a profound sense of relief, like he'd just dodged a bullet.
When they returned to the Cross residence, Victoria rushed to greet them. "How did it go? Did Old Mr. Fairchild agree to partner with the Cross Group?"
Marie said nothing, simply moving to the side. Darren replied, "Yes."
Victoria was ecstatic, thanking the heavens.
"This is wonderful! With Old Mr. Fairchild willing to partner with us, the Cross Group is on its way to becoming a true powerhouse family."
At that moment, Hanley ran up excitedly. "Auntie is the best! I knew Auntie could secure the partnership with Old Mr. Fairchild."
"Of course. Your aunt is not only well-informed but also managed to acquire that painting. By playing to his interests, how could she not win him over? That painting might not be a top-tier masterpiece, but it's by Old Mr. Fairchild's favorite artist. Just uncovering that information shows how capable your aunt is. You should learn from her when you grow up."
Victoria showered Marie with compliments, but Marie only looked more irritated.
"Just stop it."
Victoria froze. Why was she so angry?
"Darren, what happened?"
Victoria turned to Darren for an explanation. He began, "Although Old Mr. Fairchild agreed to partner with us, it wasn't..."
Before he could finish, Natalie walked into the room.
"It wasn't Marie who secured the deal. It was me!"
Natalie entered calmly. Seeing Marie seething with a rage she wouldn't be around to witness much longer gave her a strange sense of satisfaction.
