"Richard, she said she saw Marie tampering with Marcus's car! For the past year, I could never understand how Marcus could have had that accident. She did it, Richard. Did we raise a monster?"
Richard didn't speak, his face a grim mask.
Marie said frantically, "Mom, Dad, you have to believe me! I didn't hurt my brother! Terence hired her! He got Mrs. Peterson to come here and frame me! You can't believe him! If you believe him, what will happen to me?"
Elaine didn't answer, her entire body trembling. She no longer knew what the truth was.
Marie pointed a shaking finger at the housekeeper. "Mrs. Peterson, you're lying! Aren't you afraid of the consequences? Aren't you worried about what will happen to your family?"
"Miss, if you weren't guilty, why did you arrange for me to leave the country?"
The question left Marie speechless.
Mrs. Peterson continued, "At the time, I was carrying this secret, and the more I thought about it, the more scared I became. I didn't know what to do. Then, the young miss approached me.
She said I'd worked for the family for many years, and now that my son was studying abroad, I could retire. She offered me a million dollars and said she would arrange for me to go be with my son. I knew it was hush money. That day, she really did tamper with the car. She was afraid I'd talk, so she paid me to keep quiet and tried to send me out of the country!"
Elaine stared at Marie, her expression turning from confusion to utter grief and rage.
Marie stammered, "When did I ever give you a million dollars? When did I ever say I'd send you abroad? You're lying!"
"Miss!" Mrs. Peterson's voice suddenly filled with anguish. "Miss, you arranged for a boat to take my husband and me abroad, but that little boat sank not long after it set sail. My husband was lost at sea, and I was rescued by a passing ship. You are so cruel! I hadn't said a word, and you still tried to have me killed!"
Natalie's expression grew serious. She hadn't realized Marie was so ruthless.
Not only did she sabotage her own brother's car, but she also tried to murder a witness to cover it up.
Elaine couldn't hold back any longer. She lunged forward and delivered a resounding slap across Marie's face.
She screamed at the top of her lungs, "Marie, you heartless monster! That's your brother! How could you do that to him? You deserve to die!"
It was over. Everything was over.
She thought she had been so careful, so clean. She never imagined she'd be ruined by a housekeeper.
She was finished. What was she going to do?
Suddenly, Darren burst into the room and rushed to Marie's side, helping her up. He looked at her parents and said, "How could you hit her? She's being framed!"
Marie looked up at Darren, shocked that he would rush in to defend her at a time like this.
"Darren, save me."
Darren nodded, then turned to Mrs. Peterson. "After stealing from your employers, you get into an accident while escaping and now you're trying to frame someone else? You're the one who deserves to die!"

Time for Marie to get her end, this has gone on way too long, time to move on. It’s getting boring....
Payback time. Waiting for chapters 321 onwards!...
I love the sarcastic comebacks. Quite amusing!...
