Darren’s sudden appearance, and his words, stunned everyone.
Marie was also shocked. Why would Darren say Mrs. Peterson stole something from her and got into an accident while fleeing?
He was helping her. Marie stared at Darren, her gaze deep.
Natalie looked at Darren with undisguised contempt.
For Marie's sake, even a man as righteous as him could become a liar.
Darren helped Marie up and looked at Mrs. Peterson, his eyes cold. “A year ago, you stole a ten-million-dollar diamond necklace that my older brother gave to Marie. You took the necklace and tried to secretly flee the country to find your son, but you were caught in a storm. The boat sank, and your husband was lost at sea. And now you have the nerve to turn the tables, claiming Marie tried to silence you? Do you really think a dirty, despicable housekeeper like you can frame Marie?”
Marie nervously gripped Darren’s arm. That ten-million-dollar necklace had been a wedding gift from Darren’s older brother on their wedding day.
Darren had only ever seen her as a victim.
She had always found the necklace unsettling, so she lied and said it was lost.
She had originally intended to frame Natalie, but even after Victoria beat her, Natalie stubbornly insisted she didn’t steal it. Eventually, the matter was dropped.
She never imagined Darren would use this to turn the tables for her!
Marie’s words cut Mrs. Peterson to the core.
Mrs. Peterson’s gaze turned fierce as she stared at Marie. “I’m… a dog? Marie, I was the one who raised you from the time you were two. I was a housekeeper in your home for over twenty years. Even when I knew you’d done something terrible, I couldn’t bear to see you go to jail. You told me to go abroad, and to put your mind at ease, I went. I never planned to expose you. But your heart is rotten to the core, so black there’s not a shred of conscience left. You arranged to have the boat sabotaged mid-journey, wanting me to die at sea. Ha! You’re ruthless. But then again, if you could do that to your own brother, what’s a housekeeper like me to you?”
Elaine stared at Marie, her hand clutching her chest tightly. How could this have happened? How?
Marie shrieked hysterically, “You’re lying!”
Darren supported Marie and said to Mrs. Peterson, “You claim she murdered her own brother and tried to silence you. It’s been a year. Why didn’t you come forward then? Why now? What’s your motive? Someone paid you, didn’t they?”

Time for Marie to get her end, this has gone on way too long, time to move on. It’s getting boring....
Payback time. Waiting for chapters 321 onwards!...
I love the sarcastic comebacks. Quite amusing!...
