Caught Him Cheating My Life Restarted (Natalie) novel Chapter 406

Terence’s words made Martha collapse. She slumped to the floor, shaking uncontrollably.

Terence turned to the police, his eyes dark. “This so-called witness can’t even identify the missing item. How can she possibly testify that Mrs. Peterson stole the necklace? Her statement is completely inadmissible as evidence.”

The officer spoke sternly. “You can’t even recognize the missing necklace, yet you dare to accuse someone of theft. Don’t you know that perjury is a crime?”

His voice rose, and Martha was so terrified she could barely think.

“I didn’t… I didn’t, it wasn’t me…”

Darren immediately spoke up for her.

“Martha, any normal person would be scared in this situation. It’s perfectly understandable. Don’t panic. Just calm down and take another look. You’ll recognize it as the necklace.”

Martha realized he was sending her a signal, and her panic subsided slightly.

“Go on, take another look,” Darren urged her. “Is that the necklace your mistress lost?”

He gave Martha a meaningful look. She scrambled back to her feet and pretended to examine the photo on the phone with great care.

After a long moment, she said, “I see it clearly now. I really see it. That’s the necklace our mistress lost. The one Mrs. Peterson stole.”

Darren smiled with satisfaction. Terence was trying to bluff them.

They would just call his bluff. What could he do?

Terence looked at Martha, his expression unreadable. “So you are now certain this is the necklace Mrs. Peterson stole, is that right?”

Martha nodded eagerly. “Yes, yes, that’s the one!”

The corners of his lips curved into a cold smile, and Marie suddenly understood the meaning of cardiac arrest.

She had indeed sold the necklace to Mrs. Scott six months ago. It was a private, highly secretive transaction that no one else was supposed to know about. She had even made Mrs. Scott promise not to tell anyone.

How did Terence find out?

So that was it. While he had remained silent, letting them put on their little show, he had been tracing the necklace all along.

In that moment, Marie truly understood just how terrifying Terence could be.

But she couldn't admit it. She would rather die.

“Mr. Lockwood, I never sold this necklace to Mrs. Scott. It went missing a year ago, so how could I have sold it six months ago? There must be a misunderstanding, Mr. Lockwood. Mrs. Peterson must have sold it off after she stole it, and that’s how it ended up in Mrs. Scott’s hands. It’s all a misunderstanding!”
