Caught Him Cheating My Life Restarted (Natalie) novel Chapter 422

Hanley had always thought highly of himself and didn't want to look like Lucas and Liana.

But he couldn't show it. He had to stay at the Lockwood estate and win the favor of the elders.

Hanley gave a modest smile. “Do we look alike? We’re best friends, after all.”

Lucas nearly choked on his soup.

He turned to look at Hanley. What was this guy talking about?

Best friends? Hanley despised him and his sister. It was written all over his face every day at school, where he constantly competed with him.

Hanley saw Lucas choke and quickly showed concern. “Are you okay? Was the soup too hot? We shouldn’t eat things that are too hot, or it could hurt our throats. The best temperature for soup is around 140 degrees.”

Hanley was so polite and composed, like a true heir.

“You certainly know a lot, and he’s so well-mannered and polite,” Old Mrs. Lockwood praised Hanley, then turned to Lucas. “Since you two are good friends, you should learn from him.”

Lucas forced a smile. “Okay, I’ll learn from him.”

Learn what from him? How to have a huge ego with very little to back it up?

“But Hanley doesn’t have Lucas’s good qualities, either. Hanley, you should also learn from Lucas.”

Hanley had been feeling quite smug when Old Mrs. Lockwood told Lucas to learn from him.

Lucas had taken his spot in the advanced program at the Helios Institute and outshone him at every school event. Hanley had always resented him for it.

He had been looking for a chance to get his pride back.

Now, a person of Old Mrs. Lockwood’s stature was telling Lucas to learn from him. It felt like he’d finally scored a point.

But then his own mother had to go and tell him to learn from Lucas.

Why? Hanley suddenly remembered what his aunt had said: his mother was going to become Lucas and Liana's stepmother. Soon, Lucas and Liana would be more important to her than he was.

Only his aunt truly cared for him, which was why he had to get her out.

Natalie was a live-in doctor, and her mother was a housekeeper for the Lockwoods. They were both drawing a salary, and living at the estate was like staying in staff housing.

But it wasn't appropriate for her son to live there too.

Natalie planned to find a place and move out with her mother.

“Mommy, why are we moving out? Aren't you going to be Lucas and Liana’s stepmom? Or are you afraid the Lockwoods will mind my existence, that you’re divorced and have a child?”

Natalie frowned, wondering how a child like Hanley could think of such things.

“Hanley, you…”

Before Natalie could finish, Lucas and Liana appeared at the door, hugging their pillows.

“Natalie, where are you going? Can you take me and my sister with you?”

Lucas and Liana looked at Natalie with pitiful, puppy-dog eyes.
