"Since you understand that, then you should let me take Hanley with me."
Victoria's expression immediately became awkward and flustered. "How could we do that? Hanley is the lifeblood of the Cross family. We can't let him suffer outside. Besides, you're the daughter-in-law of the Cross family. You should stay right here at home and not go anywhere."
Natalie chuckled softly. Hadn't she just said she wouldn't acknowledge a daughter-in-law with such a humble background?
"Mommy, Grandma is right. Don't divorce Daddy. Hanley doesn't want you and Daddy to get a divorce."
"Natalie, no child wants to see their parents divorce. For Hanley's sake, please don't divorce Darren."
Natalie remained silent, her expression unreadable.
Victoria continued, "Tomorrow, I'll hire a few more servants just to wait on you. You're Lady Natalie of the Cross family; it's time we improved your treatment. If there's anything else you're unhappy about, just tell me, and I'll arrange everything perfectly for you."
Hanley tugged on Natalie's hand. "Mommy, in a couple of days, the preschool is having a parent-child activity with a 'Great Moms' theme. Your medical skills are so amazing, I want all my classmates to know how incredible my mommy is."
Natalie knew about the event.
But she had already overheard him asking Marie to go with him. He had never let her attend any of his school's parent-child activities before.
He used to say she was just a housewife and too embarrassing. The other mothers were celebrities or powerful businesswomen.
But now, he was taking her hand and asking her to go with him.
"Didn't you ask your aunt to go with you?"
Hanley paused. "Mommy, that was before. I was just being silly. Now I know how amazing you are. Not only are you a great doctor, but you also secured the deal with the Fairchild Conglomerate. You're the best, Mommy."
Victoria quickly chimed in, "That's right! I heard you wrote a project plan that earned Old Mr. Fairchild's approval. I never knew you had such hidden talents."
"Mommy, can I please see the project plan? Just for a peek. I promise I won't damage it."
"So everything you just said... it was all for this project plan?"
Victoria said smugly, "This plan of yours got lucky and was approved by Mr. Fairchild. Since we've signed a contract with him, we naturally need it!"
"You're not even bothering to pretend anymore!"
Natalie looked at her son. So all those things he had said—'Mommy is so amazing,' 'Mommy, please come to my parent-child day'—were just a ruse to get this document.
It was a lie... a well-crafted design.
Family always knows where to stick the knife so it hurts the most.
Victoria said mockingly, "Natalie, we call you a country bumpkin and you still don't get it. Do you have any idea how important this project plan is? We're collaborating with the Fairchild Conglomerate, and Old Mr. Fairchild approved your plan. Of course, we had to do everything we could to get it. You were foolish enough to just hand it over. You really have no value left to exploit."

Time for Marie to get her end, this has gone on way too long, time to move on. It’s getting boring....
Payback time. Waiting for chapters 321 onwards!...
I love the sarcastic comebacks. Quite amusing!...
