Victoria said furiously, “Who are these people? A bunch of flip-floppers? How dare they attack my grandson?”
The lawyer continued, “The Lockwood family’s statement explained that young master was using extreme measures to threaten Natalie into rescuing lady Marie. While he was up there, Terence had staff prepare an air cushion below to prevent any accidental fall.
“Because young master landed on the cushion, he wasn’t injured. However, Terence still had his driver take young master to the hospital. They also attached the hospital’s medical record, which states there were no significant external injuries!”
As the lawyer spoke, Victoria’s and Marie’s heads were spinning.
“How could they do this? They’re trying to ruin Hanley. This could have all been resolved if they had just come to us and agreed to release Marie. Why did they have to take it this far? They’re trying to destroy him! And what is Natalie doing? How could she let the Lockwood family release a statement like this? Doesn’t she care about her own son?”
Victoria yelled, while Marie’s mind descended into chaos.
She asked the lawyer nervously, “So what you’re saying is that public opinion has completely shifted, we have no leverage against Terence anymore, and he won’t be coming to negotiate with us, is that right?”
“The latest video released by the Lockwood family shows that Terence never touched young master, so the charge of him intentionally harming young master is invalid. We have nothing to threaten him with.”
“So… you mean it was all for nothing.”
Marie’s eyes went vacant. The immense shock left her breathless.
She had been counting on Terence coming to negotiate, which would have been her ticket out. But she never expected some other damn surveillance video. Now they had no leverage over him at all, which meant she wasn’t getting out!
She wasn’t getting out, and she had just given Victoria the password to her safe.
“Aunt Marie, don’t be like this.”
Hanley tried to intervene, but Marie suddenly turned on him, screaming, “Hanley, you brainless idiot! If he didn’t touch you, why didn’t you grab his hand when you fell?
“If you had made contact, could he have argued that he didn’t push you? How could you be so stupid? We had the perfect bargaining chip, and now it’s all gone to waste. Do you want me to die in here? Hanley, why are you so stupid?”
Marie looked like she wanted to strangle him. She was a completely different person from the gentle aunt he knew.
Hanley took a fearful step back. His aunt had never called him stupid before.

Time for Marie to get her end, this has gone on way too long, time to move on. It’s getting boring....
Payback time. Waiting for chapters 321 onwards!...
I love the sarcastic comebacks. Quite amusing!...
