“You misunderstood,” Natalie said. “He’s my friend.”
Nicholas’s ears perked up as if he’d caught a signal. “We’re not just friends. We’re on a blind date!”
Natalie was speechless.
The owner chuckled. “Don’t be shy, Natalie.”
Natalie was at a loss for words. What was there to be shy about? And since when were they on a blind date? As far as she was concerned, she was just having a working lunch with Nicholas. She had to get back to the office.
“Ma’am, you’ve really misunderstood. There’s nothing going on between us. He’s even younger than me. It’s not the kind of relationship you’re thinking of.”
“So what if he’s younger? Dating a younger man is all the rage these days.”
Natalie fell silent.
Nicholas chimed in, “That’s right! It’s the best!”
Natalie said, “Ma’am, let me pay you for another hamburger. Please make one for him. He’s clearly not full, and he’s talking way too much!”
“Ma’am, don’t worry about it. I have to give her a ride,” Nicholas said. “Ma’am, I’m pursuing her, she just hasn’t said yes yet.”
“See? The young man is quite honest. Natalie, stop teasing the kid. He’s good-looking, you should consider him.”
“Exactly! See, ma’am? You have great taste. No wonder your wonton soup is so delicious.”
“If it’s so delicious, you can stay here and eat it. I’ve paid. Goodbye.”
With that, Natalie walked out, hailed a taxi, and left immediately. She was in a hurry to get back to work, leaving Nicholas stunned.
“The Cross Group went bankrupt. Did you know?”
Natalie nodded, her expression calm. “I know.”
“I let them go under without your permission. Are you angry with me?” At that moment, Terence looked like a child who had done something wrong.
“No. The Cross Group’s collapse was due to their own mismanagement.”
Hearing her words, Terence finally let out a sigh of relief. He had been worried about acting without her consent. He was glad she wasn’t angry.
“Now that the Cross Group is gone, they’ll still be saddled with massive debt even after liquidating their assets. It will be a huge problem for Darren to raise Hanley. You should fight for custody. Or… I could set up a trust fund for Hanley. He could receive a hundred thousand dollars a month in allowance. I also secured him a spot in the junior program at the Helios Institute for Advanced Minds.”
Natalie stared at Terence in astonishment. He had set up a trust fund for Hanley, giving him a hundred-thousand-dollar monthly allowance, and even gotten him a spot in the Helios Institute’s junior program. The allowance was already extravagant, but a spot at the Helios Institute was incredibly difficult to obtain. Terence must have gone to great lengths behind the scenes.

Time for Marie to get her end, this has gone on way too long, time to move on. It’s getting boring....
Payback time. Waiting for chapters 321 onwards!...
I love the sarcastic comebacks. Quite amusing!...
