Edgar Lockwood immediately grabbed Simon. Why was this boy so impatient?
“He's adopted. Surely you wouldn't think that only a biological child is worthy of inheriting the Lockwood Group, while an adopted one isn't?”
Simon was stunned. How did he suddenly become adopted?
What was his grandfather so afraid of this old woman for? Why didn't he just call her bluff and expose her for faking it?
Just as Simon was about to speak, a sharp look from his grandfather silenced him.
Mrs. Lockwood's eyes were filled with contempt. They were willing to tell any lie just to get their hands on the family fortune.
Seeing him lie so effortlessly to her mother-in-law made her sick. He was so old and still such a scoundrel!
Grace frowned slightly. “He's adopted? Are you lying to me? I can see you're clearly more affectionate with him than with our other grandson. How could he be the adopted one?”
Mrs. Lockwood felt a surge of satisfaction. Her mother-in-law might be confused, but she wasn't stupid.
Edgar’s face darkened. “Years ago, when I was delivering goods in Ravenford Town, I was attacked by bandits and nearly died. It was this boy's family who saved me.
Later, his family met with tragedy, and they entrusted him to us. Naturally, we have to treat him even better than our own flesh and blood, don't you think?”
“Is that so?”
“Yes,” Edgar said, deliberately changing the subject. “Grace, you’ve been a kind person your whole life. You wouldn’t be prejudiced and treat the children differently, would you?”
“If he is truly the child of our benefactors, then he must be treated as our own.”
Mrs. Lockwood was about to explode. She desperately wanted to expose the old scoundrel.
How dare he lie to her mother-in-law right in front of her.
She was seething, wanting to tear them apart!
But then she remembered her mother-in-law collapsing and coughing up blood. She couldn't say anything more, afraid that hearing the truth again would cause a second trauma.
Mrs. Lockwood could barely contain her anger.
“Are you planning on staying here? Aren't you going back to your home outside? Is your other… partner no longer with us?”
Simon shot back, “Don't talk nonsense! My grandma is perfectly fine.”
“Normal people only have one grandmother. You call our Mrs. Lockwood ‘Grandma,’ and now you have another one. Do you just call any woman you meet grandma? You seem to really enjoy being a grandson.”
Simon's face turned pale with rage.
Mrs. Lockwood sneered, turning her gaze to Edgar Lockwood. “Since your partner outside is alive and well, won't she mind you not going back? Isn't she afraid you'll stay here with the legal wife for good?”
“This is the Lockwood family estate. This is my home. No matter how much time has passed, when I return, I am the master here. Asking you to prepare a room for me was a courtesy. Don't push your luck.”
Mrs. Lockwood was fuming, but Terence said, “Arrange rooms for them.”

Time for Marie to get her end, this has gone on way too long, time to move on. It’s getting boring....
Payback time. Waiting for chapters 321 onwards!...
