“No, thank you. I don’t like flowers.”
“Mommy, I know you’re still angry with me,” Hanley said, his voice laced with urgency. “I’ve apologized so sincerely. Can’t you forgive me?”
Natalie was surprised that Hanley would buy her flowers to apologize.
But he had just left with Victoria and Darren.
How did he end up back here, all by himself?
“How did your grandmother let you come here and buy flowers?” Natalie asked, testing him. Victoria would have been the first to object if she knew Hanley was buying flowers for her.
Hanley stammered, “Grandma said… that now that you’re getting the Ward Group shares, she hopes you’ll go easy on… and save the Cross family.”
So that was the real reason for the flowers.
Natalie found it laughable. The Cross family changed their tune so quickly.
When she had no value, they treated her like she was from the countryside. Now that she was useful, they sent a child to flatter her.
And they had only just left. Did they have a change of heart halfway down the hall?
They certainly worked fast.
Natalie’s gaze darkened. “You didn’t bring me these flowers because you’re truly sorry. You have other motives. Take them back. I won’t help the Cross Group.”
Even if he had brought them with a sincere apology, she wouldn’t have accepted them.
“You should go.”
Hanley couldn’t believe his mother was truly refusing to forgive him. The flowers in his hands suddenly felt like they were burning him.
As Mrs. Lockwood wondered if she should intervene, Terence stepped forward.
“You don’t understand how deeply you’ve all hurt your mother,” he said. “You’re just a child, but your age is not an excuse for hurting others.”
Hanley lowered his head. “I’m sorry. I know I was wrong to frame you. I just… my aunt was always so good to me, and Grandma said she could be locked in prison for the rest of her life. I didn’t want her to end up like that. I just wanted to help her. I only framed you because I wanted you to save her.
“But I know I was wrong now. I can’t hurt you just to save my aunt. I am sincerely apologizing to you. My mommy won’t accept these flowers, so I hope you will.”

Time for Marie to get her end, this has gone on way too long, time to move on. It’s getting boring....
Payback time. Waiting for chapters 321 onwards!...
I love the sarcastic comebacks. Quite amusing!...
