No one could force him to do anything!
"Natalie, I'm the only one who gets to leave you. You don't have the right to ask me for a divorce!"
Darren stared at Natalie, his eyes filled with a menacing light. He would never divorce her.
"I don't have the right? Darren, you're the one who was wrong."
"So what if I was wrong? I'm not divorcing you. What can you do about it?"
Darren's gaze was fiery. She came from nothing. If he refused to divorce her, what could she possibly do?
Just then, a deep, commanding voice cut through the chaos.
"Darren Cross, whether you divorce her or not is no longer up to you!"
A formidable old man strode into the room. His eyes were sharp as steel, his brow severe.
He had the broad chest and imposing presence of a man who could command armies.
He was flanked by a group of bodyguards in black suits, their presence so intimidating that everyone instinctively cleared a path.
"Who is that? He looks like he's here to back Natalie up. Is that her grandfather?"
"I heard Natalie's father is a gambling addict. How could she have such a distinguished-looking grandfather?"
"You two must be new here. You don't even recognize Charles Fairchild, head of one of the city's most powerful families? You need to do your homework!"
Charles Fairchild walked directly to Natalie, standing protectively in front of her. "Natalie, don't be afraid of the barking dogs. Grandpa's here."
What?
Natalie knew Old Mr. Fairchild?
Charles Fairchild's tone was imperious. "Darren, answer me. Did you hurt her?"
Darren's face darkened. "Mr. Fairchild, I would never lay a hand on Natalie. She's my wife."
Charles Fairchild let out a cold laugh. "Oh, you remember she's your wife now? Did you think about that when you were in a car with another woman?"
Darren's expression was grim. Marie tried to intervene. "Mr. Fairchild, this is our family's private matter. It's complicated. We can explain it to you later."
Charles Fairchild cut her off impatiently. "Ms. Ward, the public thought you were a faithful widow for five years. They bought plenty of products from the Ward and Cross Groups because of it. You gained both fame and fortune, only to be found in a car with your brother-in-law. Has the Ward family's moral compass fallen this low?"
Marie's face burned with humiliation, but she had no comeback.
Every word he said was a hammer blow.
Charles Fairchild continued his tirade. "Let me tell you, if you dare lay a hand on her, I will make sure the Cross Group pays for it today."

Time for Marie to get her end, this has gone on way too long, time to move on. It’s getting boring....
Payback time. Waiting for chapters 321 onwards!...
I love the sarcastic comebacks. Quite amusing!...
