Seeing the injury on Natalie's forehead, Old Mr. Fairchild was incandescent with rage. How dare they bully Natalie? Did they really think she had no one to stand up for her?
Even if she had no one else, as long as he, Charles Fairchild, was around, no one would bully her.
"The Cross family is done for. Old Mr. Fairchild is furious."
Just then, Natalie spoke. "Mr. Fairchild, the cut on my forehead is nothing serious, and it has nothing to do with him. I just want a divorce."
"Natalie, it's alright. Grandpa will get justice for you."
"Mr. Fairchild, I just want a divorce."
"Alright, I understand."
Charles Fairchild turned to Darren, his voice stern. "Natalie isn't pressing charges for your abuse. Now sign those damn divorce papers!"
Neither Darren nor Marie had expected Old Mr. Fairchild to intervene on Natalie's behalf.
"Mr. Fairchild, this is our family's business. We don't need you to trouble yourself with it."
Darren's tone was defiant, but Charles Fairchild was not one to be trifled with.
"Darren, have you forgotten the contract our families signed? You've just created a massive scandal, causing the Cross Group's reputation to plummet and its stock to nosedive. This was the impact before the story was even confirmed, let alone now that you've been caught red-handed. Do you really think the Fairchild Conglomerate can still partner with you? The contract explicitly states that if the project is halted due to your actions, you will bear all consequences. According to the contract, you must now pay us two billion dollars."
Darren and Marie's faces went pale. Pay two billion dollars?
The Cross Group couldn't come up with that much cash right now.
Darren was seething, but he forced his anger down.
"Mr. Fairchild, let's discuss this further."
"You have two options. One, you pay the Fairchild Conglomerate two billion dollars in compensation, and we cancel the partnership. Two, you sign the divorce papers with Natalie immediately, I waive the compensation claim, and we cancel the project."
Darren tried to threaten her with their child, knowing it was her weak spot.
But Natalie's response was chillingly indifferent. "Then take good care of him. I don't want him anymore."
Darren was stunned. He couldn't believe Natalie would just give up custody. Hadn't she been fighting for custody all this time?
Charles Fairchild tossed the divorce papers at Darren. "Darren, did you even bother to read the agreement? She's already given you full custody."
How was that possible?
She was giving up Hanley? It couldn't be.
Realizing his threats were useless, a sense of panic began to creep into Darren.
He had never felt so powerless in his entire life.

Time for Marie to get her end, this has gone on way too long, time to move on. It’s getting boring....
Payback time. Waiting for chapters 321 onwards!...
I love the sarcastic comebacks. Quite amusing!...
