Natalie frowned. The director had promised her the job. Why was he backing out before she even started?

"Director, did something happen?"

"I know you're highly skilled and would make an excellent doctor. However, the Cross family is a major shareholder in our hospital. They just issued a directive that we are not to hire you. I'm truly sorry."

Natalie hadn't realized that the Everwell clinic was also a Cross family enterprise. It was just her bad luck.
