“My son… my son, it’s really you!”
Elaine rushed forward and threw her arms around Marcus, sobbing her heart out.
Only then did the crowd truly believe it. They hadn’t been mistaken. The man was indeed the late Mr. Ward, Marcus Ward.
But how could he be here?
“My son, my precious boy. I’ve missed you so much.”
Elaine clung to Marcus, her cries of grief echoing in the room. Each sob felt like a punch to Marie’s gut.
Marie could barely breathe.
It really was Marcus Ward. Marcus wasn’t dead. How was this possible? She knew he was dead. How could this be happening?
Richard looked at Marcus. “Son, you’re not dead? What on earth happened?”
Marcus didn’t answer. He just stared coldly at Marie, who was still on the floor. His gaze was terrifyingly icy.
Natalie nudged Marie again with her foot. “Hey, Marie. Your brother is back. You two were so close, weren’t you? Aren’t you going to get up and have a reunion? Or are you going to keep playing dead?”
Marie didn’t dare to move. With Marcus standing there, the thought of dropping her facade terrified her.
What was going on?
How could someone who was supposed to be dead suddenly reappear?
And this was the person she had arranged to be killed. How could she possibly face him?
Just then, Natalie took out her silver needle again. “I’ve called your name so many times, and still no response. Your brother is back, and you haven’t woken up. It seems my earlier judgment was wrong. You really did faint. I guess I’ll have to use my needle to help you. Don’t worry, a little fainting spell is child’s play for me.”
It was him. It was really Marcus Ward.
He was supposed to be dead. How had he come back to life?
Even though she was terrified, Marie managed to feign surprise. “Marcus? Is that you? But you were… what’s going on? Marcus, did Natalie hide you away? This woman is so devious! She told us you were dead when you were alive all along! She must have some ulterior motive. You can’t trust her.”
Marie wasn’t sure how much Marcus knew, but it was obvious Natalie had been hiding him. This was a massive threat to her.
“If I don’t trust her, who should I trust? You?”
Marcus’s words made Marie’s heart drop. She forced a strained smile.
“Marcus, I’m your sister. Of course you should trust me. You should always trust me, no matter what.”
At that, Marcus coldly pushed Marie away. “Stop pretending. You’re not my sister at all.”

Marie needs to be gone, she has caused enough trouble for Natalie. This is getting boring!...
This fiasco needs to end. Natalie and Terrance need to be together and in my mind somehow those twins are Natalie’s....
Time for Marie to get her end, this has gone on way too long, time to move on. It’s getting boring....
