Richard’s eyes were filled with sorrow as he said to Elaine Ward, “Elaine, please stop. I’m the one who was wrong. I failed as a husband and a father. I couldn't protect you and our daughter. I'm the one who should be apologizing.”

“Neither of you needs to apologize to me. She’s injured now; she can't handle any extreme emotions.”

Natalie frowned, having just administered emergency first aid to Elaine Ward.

She couldn't let anything happen to her.

Elaine Ward was rushed to the hospital. When Terence heard what had happened, he hurried over as well.

“Natalie, are you hurt?”

Upon arriving at the hospital, the first thing Terence did was check if Natalie was injured.

Natalie shook her head. “I’m fine.”

Her face was pale. Though she was unharmed, Elaine Ward’s injury felt worse than if she had been hurt herself.

Terence took Natalie’s hand. “Elaine Ward will be fine. Don’t worry too much.”

Natalie’s face was ashen, and she looked like she was barely holding herself together. She never imagined Elaine Ward would take a knife for her.

“The attacker has been caught. Marie hired him. He’s keeping his mouth shut for now and won’t give up Marie’s location. But don’t worry, my men will find her. I'll have them tear this city apart if they have to, but she won’t get away.”

Both Marcus and Richard were trying to comfort Natalie. After all, Elaine Ward had been injured protecting her. The knife had gone in deep, in a very dangerous spot. Though Natalie had managed to stop the bleeding, they still needed tests to see if the heart had been damaged. If it was, the situation would be dire.

Even though Marcus and Richard were terrified, they still put on a brave face to console Natalie.

Natalie felt a lump forming in her throat. She knew they were just trying to keep her from blaming herself.

Just then, Marcus noticed Terence had arrived.

“He’s been apprehended and handed over to the police. I’m certain Marie was the one who hired him, but he’s refusing to give her up or reveal her location. His lips are sealed, like he’s had professional training. He’s definitely not an ordinary person.”
