“Call me despicable, I don't care. Us falling in here was fate. It's a sign we should get back together, a chance to remember the good times we had.”
Darren tried to kiss her lips, but Natalie struggled fiercely. Suddenly, her hand closed around a rock. She swung it hard, hitting Darren in the head.
Darren cried out in pain, and Natalie seized the opportunity to scramble away.
Darren was dizzy from the blow. He couldn't believe Natalie would be so vicious.
“Are you trying to save yourself for Terence? Don't forget, you've been mine for a long time. You even had my child. Is there any point in resisting me now?”
“Shut up! Darren, if I had known it would end like this, I would rather you had never saved me that day.”
The finality in Natalie's eyes shook Darren. Their story had begun when her adoptive father sold her to an old man. That night, he had saved her, taken her, and brought her into the Cross family. But he had never cherished her.
“Is your past with me so shameful? You'd rather have been with that old man than have started with me?”
“Yes, that's right. If you hadn't saved me that night, my body would have been hurt, but not my heart. I wouldn't have been broken into a million pieces. I wouldn't have lost the courage to love someone.”
Natalie's cold, sharp accusation left Darren silent, his eyes bloodshot.
“You think you're not good enough for Terence, is that it? Because you were married to me, because you had my child, you feel unworthy of him, right?”
“Yes!” Natalie's gaze was firm as she met Darren's eyes. “He's such a wonderful person. He deserves a better woman, not someone as broken as I am. I'm not good enough for him. I don't deserve someone as good as him!”
Darren had never felt a pain like this before. Hearing from her own lips how deeply she loved Terence, yet how cautiously, was a testament to the depth of her feelings.
Natalie was saying it on purpose. She just wanted him to understand that there was no future for them. She would never go back.
“No! You love me! It's me you love!”

Time for Marie to get her end, this has gone on way too long, time to move on. It’s getting boring....
Payback time. Waiting for chapters 321 onwards!...
I love the sarcastic comebacks. Quite amusing!...
