Natalie's heart was pounding. Had he lost his mind? What had gotten into him?
"I'm glad you consider me a friend."
A friend? He was just a friend?
Terence's gaze darkened with raw, untamed emotion as he kissed her again, this time with a fierce desperation, as if he were seeking revenge, or perhaps demanding something more.
Natalie felt like her life was about to end right there. She pushed against Terence with all her might, creating a sliver of space to breathe.
"Terence, what are you doing?"
Terence didn't know why he had lost control like this. He had once promised to give her space, to wait until she truly loved him.
But he didn't want to wait anymore. If he kept waiting, he might lose her to someone else.
He didn't want to take any risk that might lead to losing her.
"Hey, what are you two doing?"
Hanley's voice suddenly rang out, followed by the sound of something falling to the floor by the doorway.
Lucas Lockwood grumbled, "Hanley, what are you yelling for?"
Hanley said, "I'm looking for my mommy." Natalie immediately scrambled off Terence's lap.
Hanley pushed past Lucas and walked into the room.
His mommy really was here. Hanley said resentfully, "Mommy, since you're back, why didn't you come find me? Why did you come find this man first? Is he the only one in your heart now, not me?"
Lucas stood to the side and remarked, "Kids these days are so jealous. And they have such short memories. You forgot how you used to refuse to even acknowledge Natalie as your mommy."
Mrs. Lockwood was speechless.
The kid was surprisingly sharp. He had really inherited Darren's talent for acting.
Hanley grabbed Natalie's hand. "Mommy, I almost got lost on the mountain. I was so scared I'd never see you and Daddy again. Mommy, I really regret it. I just want to be with my mommy and daddy."
Listening to Hanley, Lucas felt his skin crawl.
If he didn't know any better, he might have found the kid pitiful. Now he understood why people said someone who plays the victim usually brings it upon themselves.
He never treated Natalie like this before. Why was he playing the victim now?
Did he even deserve to?

Marie needs to be gone, she has caused enough trouble for Natalie. This is getting boring!...
This fiasco needs to end. Natalie and Terrance need to be together and in my mind somehow those twins are Natalie’s....
