“If all you ever do is hide behind your grandmother and cry, you’ll never amount to anything, let alone take responsibility for the Lockwood Group,” Edgar Lockwood said disapprovingly.
With that, Edgar stormed off. Daphne’s expression soured; she had clearly underestimated Grace Lockwood.
How dare Grace’s grandson bully hers? She would not let her get away with it.
*Grace Lockwood, it’s time we had a talk.*

“We’re closing. You can all go home now.”
Darren and Angela had been waiting at the company all day but hadn't seen Orion. Instead, the receptionist told them it was closing time and that they should leave.
Angela fumed, “What do you mean, you’re closing? Orion hasn’t even seen us.”
“The CEO had to leave for an urgent matter.”
“When did he leave?” Angela demanded. “We’ve been here the whole time and didn’t see him go. Don’t try to fool us again.”
“The CEO had an emergency and left by helicopter around four o’clock.”
Angela was so furious she could have screamed. It was now six-thirty.
“He left by helicopter and you didn’t tell us?”
“I told you not to wait here, but you insisted on staying.”
“You’re unbelievable!” Angela snapped. “You’re just toying with us.”
“It’s just waiting. That’s not real suffering. Everyone in this world has it tough. People are out there working two minimum-wage jobs just to survive. Life is hard for everyone, but we all have to keep moving forward.”
Darren's words hit Angela hard. As the Everhart heiress, she’d been shielded her entire life, never forced to face the harsh realities of the world.
The greatest pain she’d ever known was Terence not loving her back. She had never truly suffered.
“From the looks of it today, Orion isn’t going to see me easily. Why don’t I book you a flight back to Mariston Vale first?”
Darren couldn’t bear to see Angela go through this with him. He felt she shouldn’t have to get dragged into his troubles.
“No way,” Angela said. “I can’t leave you here alone.”
“I have no idea when Orion will agree to see us. It could be a week, a month, or even two. I don't know. But this is my last and only chance. I have to seize it and give it my all. If it really doesn't work out, then I guess it just wasn’t meant to be.”
