Surprisingly, we had a peaceful breakfast. Completely opposite from the roller coaster of emotions we experienced last night. I felt like this wasthe most peaceful moment we had shared together.
Somehow, it crosses my mind that there might be a chance that any made–up relationship with Hunter could lead us into something more meaningful. I’d like to think that fate brought together.
Since Hunter cooked our breakfast, I volunteered to take on the dishes and clean the table. He agreed and eventually excused himself to make some calls.
He went outside so I couldn’t hear what his calls were about, but can still see him through the glass door. He was standing right outside with nothing but gray sweatpants. I can see his ripped physique from where I am standing. After putting all the dishes into the dishwasher, I took the chance to watch him freely
I couldn’t help but admire this beautiful man who worshipped me like a goddess last night. My eyes landed on his luscious lips, and the memories of how he passionately kissed me came rushing like a flash flood. My heart races just by the thought of feeling those lips pressed against mine once again. I didn’t notice that I had been smiling and biting my lower lip while watching him like a creep.
I just came to my senses when his eyes met mine and a devilish grin tugged his lips. I cleared my throat and looked away, trying to calm my heart beating erratically.
I tried my best not to look at him, but it feels like there’s an invisible force pulling me towards him. When I looked at him again, I saw him slide the glass door and walk towards me. He walked like a runway model as he made his way towards me. I gulped as I remained glued to the floor while watching him slowly take the distance between us.
I gasped for air when he pulled me by my waist and wrapped his arms around me the moment he
got
closer.
“I wouldn’t be able to work if you keep on looking at me like that he said with a playful grin playing on his lips.
“Looking like what?” I frowned, acting innocently.
“Like you want to eat me,” he replied.
I rolled my eyes, trying my best to hide my nervousness brought on by our closeness. “You’re so full of yourself, Mr. De Marco.”
“Am I wrong?” he asked, raising his eyebrow as if he were challenging me.
This time, a smile broke into my lips as I couldn’t contain the overwhelming emotions I feel for this gorgeous man.
“Yes, you’re wrong,” I playfully replied.
He didn’t take offense at it; instead, he took that as an invitation to claim my lips. My eyes automatically close as soon as our lips touch. He kisses me as if it were the first time. I still couldn’t believe that everything happened so fast. One thing, I was trapped in a marriage where I was the only one taking a part of me, and then the next thing, I’m in the arms of this gorgeous man pleasuring and worshipping me like a goddess.
We were both catching our breath when he finally let go of my lips.
“As much as I’d love to devour you the whole day, I can’t,” he said, his voice low and rough, laced with that teasing tone that always made my stomach flutter.
I frowned, blinking up at him, not quite sure what he meant by that. My brain was still trying to process his words when the sound of the front door opening startled me.

Before I could turn, several people entered the safe house—men and women carrying folders, fabric samples, and boxes. The sudden intrusion made my body tense, every muscle going rigid. My pulse spiked, and the air seemed to thicken around me. After last night’s chaos, I wasn’t ready to see strangers barging in. My mind went straight back to that moment of panic when I thought we wouldn’t make it out alive.
Hunter noticed instantly.
He always did.
In a heartbeat, his strong arms wrapped around my waist, pulling me close until my back rested against his chest. His warmth surrounded me, grounding me in a way that nothing else could. He pressed a soft kiss to my temple, and I felt his breath whisper against my skin as he murmured, “You’re safe, bunny. You’re safe.”
His voice was a balm. And just like that, the fear slowly melted away.
