Isabella had just stepped out of the bathroom when she heard Lydia's voice. "The flight to Solara is booked. You have 40 minutes until check-in."
Isabella's heart skipped a beat, and she threw her arms around Lydia. "Thank you, Lydia! You're my angel!"
Lydia smiled, tapping Isabella gently on the forehead. Even though they'd only known each other a short while, they'd clicked instantly.
"You really don't want me to come with you? You're still hurt. Can you manage on your own?"
Isabella nodded. "If you come with me, you'll have to go back and get your passport. I'm afraid Emma might already know I'm not at the hospital. If she does, I won't get the chance to leave."
Seeing how determined Isabella was, Lydia sighed. "Alright then. But you'd better stay safe. If anything happens, call me.
"I've got friends in Solara. If it gets really bad, they can help."
"Thank you..." Isabella's voice faltered.
"What are you thanking me for? AAre you sure it's worth chasing after him like this?"
Isabella couldn't answer if it was worth it or not. All she knew was that she needed to confirm whether Theodore was safe. Being trapped in the hospital with no news about him was slowly driving her crazy.
"Fine, I'll admit it. I don't understand love," Lydia said.
Isabella wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes and suddenly grew curious. "What about you and Jason? Why did you two get married? I'm actually really curious about your relationship."
She didn't dare say it out loud, but from the first time she met Jason, she felt like he wasn't good enough for Lydia.
Lydia thought for a moment before responding. "Probably for love, I guess."
Isabella was surprised. "Do you love Jason?"
Lydia seemed taken aback, as if she had never considered the question. She paused, then said, "Back in college, half the guys on campus had a crush on me."
Isabella burst into laughter. It wasn't a mockery. She just thought it sounded amusing.
She didn't doubt Lydia. After all, with Lydia's looks, if she were a guy, she'd probably fall for her, too.
"I mean it! I used to get so many love letters, they could fill up a drawer. And there were always different guys stopping me in the hallway, confessing their feelings."
Isabella simply smiled quietly and nodded.
