Chosen Just To Be Rejected by Jennifer Francis novel Chapter 20

Parker

He was marked and mated to Carina now, something he’d done to get over the pain he and Vex were still suffering from. Belladonna’s rejection just would not leave them. It hadn’t exactly been the right way to do it, and he knew that, but Carina had wanted to be marked and mated by him anyway.

So, he and Vex had allowed it, she was their actual Goddess–Gifted, and they were both hoping that it would obliterate the pain of that rejection. Stop them feeling like they were gutted from the inside out. His meeting of Carina should have made them happy and wanted nothing more than reject his Chosen Mate. But it had not, laying in his bed all night, knowing that she wasn’t across the hall, wasn’t even inside the pack, bothered him greatly.

Carina smelled nothing like Belladonna, who had this energetic scent that made him feel invigorated, she’d smelled like Lemon Zest and Ginger and with a hint of cracked pepper. She’d smelled spicy to him, and he’d like it, always felt more alive smelling her.

Carina smelled sickly sweet to him, like cloves and cinnamon bark. Her Mate scent was cardamom oil, like a Christmas cookie, he thought. It had actually made him wrinkle his nose that first time she’d stood before him as his Mate.

He’d allowed that Goddess–Gifted Mate bond to just take over, hadn’t fought it at all in the end, he could feel all the sparks of the mate bond between them, when touching her even before he marked and mated her, not something he’d had with Belladonna.

He’d let Carina fuck him furiously in her need to claim him as her Goddess–Gifted, something she’d been denied since the night of the full moon, and then the two nights following that.

They’d had to stop overnight on the way back to the pack. It was a long a drive, and he wouldn’t let her touch him while Belladonna was still in the pack. Their mating alliance had stated she had to be gone from it. He also didn’t want to mate someone new the same day he’d been rejected. That to him was a bit wrong, even though Belladonna had told him to go and do it, that it would ease his pair.

He’d felt her sever from the pack and then him as her Alpha that night she’d left. She’d rejected him as her mate inside his office but not as her Alpha, so she wouldn’t scent of a rogue until she was gone from the pack altogether. Feeling that had hurt almost as much as being rejected by her, he had clutched at his chest and had to really breathe through it.

He’d not known when she was going to do it, just at some point after she found somewhere to stay was alt she’d told Kane. It had hurt for nearly an hour, to lose her so completely, he was no longer her Mate or her Alpha either, she’d willingly left him and severed all ties with him. Gone, disappeared into the night.

He’d slept late and woken up to Carina wanting to be initiated into the pack. She wasn’t going anywhere, wanted to be here with him, though she’d still looked ticked off seeing him that morning. He’d ushered her into his office where his unit had been sitting and initiated the girl.

She’d stared at him after being initiated, had tilted her head frowning, then she’d stated “Is she gone from the pack?” and he’d known in that instant that she’d been searching out his previous Luna.

“Yes, left before midnight”

“Good, now you can claim me. So, let’s Mark and Mate.” She’d stated, staring up at him “We’ve waited, no… you made me your Goddess–Gifted wait long enough for that, don’t you think!”

She’d turned and walked from the office, “Our suite.” She’d stated, and because the pain of losing Belladonna was near on killing him, it was like a hole in his heart that just would stop growing or hurting, he’d thought. So he’d followed her, she was his Goddess–Gifted, they’d marked and mated in his bed. She’d just climbed right on top of him and taken him nil hesitation. She’d known what to do and done it. Had fought him quite a bit on him holding her down, and Marking her before she did him.

She had been, and he knew it, trying to dominate him. Seeing as she was getting her way, she thought he was going to be a push over. He wasn’t, he’d just still been in pain and trying to rid himself of it. She’d find that out the hard way in all likelihood that he wasn’t. He’d marked her and sorted his own needs to Mate her fully before even letting her mark him back. She’d been unimpressed, but he needed her to realise he was the Alpha, not her.

She was only Beta–blooded, but thought she was in control, not inside his pack she wouldn’t be. Marked and mated, and the girl had actually settled down a little, stopped being so ticked off and angry with him. Relaxed, secured in her position as his Mate, he thought. He’d walked her about the pack so she could see it for herself.

Had announced her as his Goddess–Gifted Mate at dinner time via a pack–wide mind–link, not many of them said anything much. He got a few ‘congratulations Alpha‘, but it was mostly acknowledged formally ” Yes Alpha.” Carina had not been happy with the pack’s response.

He’d asked her to give them a few days to get used to it, reminded her that Belladonna had been their Luna for eight years, it was a bit of a shock to them was all; that yesterday Belladonna was their Luna and today she, Carina was now their Luna.

She’d not liked that at all, had glared right at him when he’d stated her name, grated out” don’t want to hear you say her name. She doesn’t matter anymore.” They’d gone up to bed that night and as he’d held open the Alpha Suite door for her, he’d heard the Luna Suite’s door open, and turned to find Merideth leading four omegas out of the suite, carrying cleaning supplies and boxes full of clothing.

Parker raised an eyebrow at her. Did she really think he’d never had sex with Belladonna? He didn’t know how she could think that, she knew they’d been together for eight years. “Not in the Alpha’s bed, no. She lived in the Luna’s Suite that was where we had sex.”
