She knew him and how he handled any contracts, he was a stickler for the rules, any deal that he made he held to the letter. Point of fact if he had been the one to make that deal, and put his signature to it. Known she was here within this pack with his son, that he didn’t want to know or claim to.

He would never have come here himself, never want to lay eyes on the boy at all. In case seeing him would make him want to break their deal, it was highly likely he’d have severed his kin bond with the boy, so he would never know who his child was, not even if he stood in front of him, and shook his hand 20 years down the track.

If he had signed this contract, he would not be here confronting her about it, he wouldn’t have yelled at her this morning, or gotten annoyed and angry, be sitting here demanding answers. He could only apologise to her, and he meant it, truly did mean that he was sorry.

He’d never yelled at Belladonna like that before, and it didn’t actually sit well with him even now that they were rejected mates; that he had no right to. He could already feel the guilt of it, he’d yelled at her, snarled and grated out words at her, and for no reason at all in her books. Which he now knew was wrong of him, because she’d done everything right.

He’d already received a copy of his Mating Alliance and Separation Agreement from Katie, before coming down to this meeting, had flipped through it to that pup’s clause, and he’d seen that Belladonna’s words were correct, only pups born inside the Mate bond, were to be given to him, not those created inside the mate bond.

She had followed every rule to the letter. He’d sighed when he’d read it and just put it down, knew he was unlikely to win the battle, but he had to fight because he had no knowledge of the boy and couldn’t understand why she’d not told him.

Now, at least sitting in this office with her, he knew why Belladonna had not cared to tell him the last time he’d been here inside this very pack. Why she hadn’t even brought it up, it likely didn’t even cross her mind, because of this agreement which he was bound to but had no knowledge of.

When he and Shannon had approached her just yesterday, all Shannon had picked up from her was confusion and that she didn’t understand him. Well, he now understood that too. She thought he didn’t want their child, so there was no reason she would ever bring him up.

Parker also now understood her stopping him from going off to hunt his boy down, to make him realise who he was. Her very words about him having to see the man that didn’t want him.

He now wondered if that was what she told their son? That he didn’t want him! Did his own boy think his father did not care about him at all? He hoped not, and that threat of sicking Freya on him and Vex. Her own wolf, who’d never accepted him as their mate. Would now show herself to him, in order to take him on, and protect their pup, from the wolf that did not want to claim him. That was their view on it.

Why was it that everything in his life was so bloody hard and difficult at times. All he’d ever wanted was a peaceful life, and all he’d gotten was war and deception. Mate’s that couldn’t see their way to loving him. Though he understood why Belladonna didn’t, her view on their mate bond was clear.

But Carina was another story altogether, she was his Goddess–Gifted and should love him, but now with all of this he understood very clearly, she had never actually loved him at all, just the title of Luna and his money.

He now wondered if his ability to hold onto a mate bond was fractured or maybe broken; why was it neither of his bonds had worked out. He’d loved Belladonna, she was sweet and gentle, kind and a good Luna. And though yes, he had gotten her the wrong way, he’d never once hurt her, come to love her, she just couldn’t see her way to really accepting him, and loving him back; because she believed she’d been sold to him, was his slave, and he could actually understand that, her reasoning.

Now there was Carina, and he’d really tired with her for so many years, but now he realised she’d only pretended to want him and love him. Likely she had never ever loved him; everything was all about her, all the time, she didn’t care for others‘ opinions, just wanted that title. He’d suspected as much when he’d met her.
