He was impatient waiting on Alpha Gretta’s approval for him to go to the Hollowed Moon. She’d asked him to wait on that, until the Wolfen Council had done their own investigation into the matter.
He’d rejected Carina weeks ago, the very day he’d gotten all the information out of her, only to have her stare at him as though she couldn’t believe it; that he would actually reject her at all. Almost as if it had
never crossed her mind.
Even after everything she’d done, she’d still thought that he’d stay attached to her, and solely because she
was his Goddess–Gifted Mate, had in fact yelled that at him, “You can’t reject me, I’m your Goddess–Gifted
Mate.”
He’d stood there in the cells and just stared at her, because anyone can reject a Mate bond, one just had
to utter the words was all. “I can and I have. You’d best accept it, or you’ll be in for a world of pain,” he’d
told her, and she’d snorted disbelievingly at him.
To which he’d stated “I intend to bring Belladonna and my son here to this pack. Where I intend to win her over and have her become my Luna to this pack once more. Which means I will Mark and Mate her at some point. I’m going to date her and in time spend hours in her bed. Do you really want to feel all of that?

“You would never cause me pain like that,” Carina stated, staring at him almost triumphantly.
“Perhaps once I wouldn’t have, but you are now just a traitor and I no longer bare your filigree. It’s gone now,” he’d told her, and it was had burned off him in a matter of a minute, and though it had hurt it was nothing compared to how Belladonna’s had felt.
He’d not clutched at his chest or felt like his heart was being ripped out of him, the pain was bearable. He now wondered if that was because he loved Belladonna and didn’t want their bond broken or her mark gone from him.
Or was it because of all the horrid things he’d put up with year after year with Carina and their mate bond that saw him no longer cared about her, or their bond at all? That he’d wanted it to be over for years, but
just hadn’t yet voiced it,
He’d learned a hard lesson from this she–wolf. He’d learned that how not being open and honest about his feelings could see one’s life ruined and in more ways than one.
“I’d accept it, or you’ll get those pains of betrayal Carina, long before I Mark and Mate Belladonna, I imagine. Because she and I will have to get to know each other properly, it’s been a long time since we’ve seen each other, and I’m not about to rush anything with her.”
“You’re a cruel bastard,” Carina had yelled at him.
“Hmm, just giving you back what you gave to me.” he nodded. She could see him however she liked. He

wasn’t cruel, blind at times yes, because he thought pledging loyalty to him and the pack meant a Mate would be loyal, but clearly not. “Alpha Gretta of the Wolfen Council will send for you, a few days at most, once I write my report on this, what you did and send it to her.
“You might want to issue that acceptance of my rejection before then, or you’ll be inflicting pain upon yourself, so I’d just accept it now,” he’d told her.
“The Wolfen Council will never let you, Mark and Mate another while you’re still bound to me, I’m a Luna,”
She sneered at him. “Not ever… So I’m never going to relinquish it, so you’ll never be able to Claim that
bitch back.” She laughed at him “You think I’ll be punished! But I’ll not get a death sentence, and so I will
retain your Mark and prevent you from ever having another Mate. For the rest of our very long lives. I am
your Mate. No one else will ever be.”
He’d nodded at her. “That maybe.” Parker stated “But I’m not bound to you anymore. Your Mark is gone
from me. So I no longer have to be loyal. If you wish to stay attached to me, that is up to you. Enjoy the pains of betrayal for simply refusing to let me go. I’m certain it will last for hours and be every night when it does happen.” He’d turned and left her there in the cells, left her to her own thoughts.

He watched Gretta pull up, she was escorted by two wolfen guards, and she’d looked right at him when he’d handed Carina over, something that was a direct request of her for him to do. She looked right at his neck and had seen there was no filigree there, then looked at Carina.
