Chosen Just To Be Rejected by Jennifer Francis novel Chapter 91

Bella

Bella stared at Parker a little bit on the confused side; by his statement, but she was also now thinking about everything that he’d asked her and those words ‘Freya or your wolf?‘ It was a very odd statement for him to make.

“What do you mean?” She finally asked after a full minute of thought.

“Freya is not your wolf, you just stated that she was your mother’s,” Parker replied.

And yes, that was what Freya had told her as well, but she was her wolf. Freya was the one that she shifted into, or that Freya ripped out of, and she was the voice that she could hear inside her own mind. So, by that definition, one could only come to the conclusion that Freya was her wolf.

“Is it Freya that can’t be seen or is it your own wolf, which Freya hides from everyone, including yourself?” Parker asked her now.

Again, she was a little bit confused, and she couldn’t ask Freya at this time. She was sleeping. “Um, I don’t know how to answer that.” She shook her head finally.

But even as she watched Parker stroll away a few minutes later, to think about it himself, she thought. She couldn’t stop her mind from ticking away on that very question. Selena always seemed to be annoyed with Freya, and Freya’s statement of ‘Despite what Selena says, I’m protecting you.‘ Maybe it wasn’t Freya that couldn’t be seen.

Maybe what Parker had just asked was actually correct. Maybe she had a wolf that wasn’t Freya and somehow Freya could keep her dormant and from coming forth. It sounded completely crazy to her. Everyone who was wolfen knew who their wolf was, could shift into them and talk to them. She was no different; but anything was possible. It was she knew worth pondering over as well.

She had to shake it off and pull herself from her thoughts, refocus on Milly, but it was there nagging her and there in the back of her mind were all the little things that had been a curiosity to her over the course of her lifetime.

The echo inside her mind when she felt pain, which her own wolf would have felt as well. She recalled it when Parker had accepted her rejection and again in the hotel room later that night when she had severed herself from the pack and Parker as her Alpha. In both of those instances she’d heard an echo of pain inside her mind from her wolf. Maybe it wasn’t just Freya that she heard.

Maybe that echo was another wolf inside her mind. Then there was, of course, the way she was disconnected from not only Freya but every other wolfen person she knew. That wasn’t a wolfen trait at all. Then to add to that, how she felt when Selena and Freya interacted, when she was asleep in the darkness of Freya’s mind.

A place that felt warm and soft, comfortable, like there was something in the darkness with her. What if

Parker was right? And those moments she was put to sleep and that feeling was when she was with her beast, her actual wolf, and that was why she felt that way, didn’t fear it, kind of liked being inside Freya’s mind.

It could also be why Freya never let Vex call her out, or mate her. Because he wasn’t Freya’s mate. Freya had told her she didn’t have a Mate ‘down here in the human realm‘. Freya also told her that Whitney wasn’t her pup…

That one had confused her a lot, considering they were one and the same, but if Parker was right, that Freya had hi–jacked her body. Then it was entirely possible that all those little things, when added up, meant that Freya wasn’t her wolf and that was why Freya said some of the weird things she did.

Bella also now wondered if that was why she felt so disconnected from the wolfen world itself, from other pack members, because she wasn’t truly whole. Hell, for all she knew, she might not even be wolfen at that rate. She could be bloody anything at all.

Who was to say that her mother was even wolfen? What if Freya had also hi–jacked her mother’s body, like she had herself? That was also possible, she now realised. If this wolf of hers could just jump from body to body at her own will. It was too confusing to figure out on her own.

She nodded at that and sat down. She knew that he could be. He’d always pulled her chair out for her at mating balls to sit next to him and stood when she did if she was leaving the table, had always asked her if he needed to go with her. Always offered his hand to her when he’d gotten up for that first dance at his mating balls, and asked her to dance with him. Not just grabbed her and made her go with him.

She’d not read anything into it; his actions or words over the past six months, but now as she sat there at the dinner table, she was thinking about that. The man she now thought over the past six months had been trying to get to know her properly. This very dinner that he had clearly planned out showed that he’d actively listened to the things she’d said or ate as well.
