(Eli)

My killer was here.

Something about this town had set off my internal alarm bells although I could not say a word about it, not because I was terrified. But because I knew that Creed, his pack, and even the dragons would turn this town or this very house upside down if I opened my mouth and then Dale and Lizbeth’s special day would be ruined.

I didn’t want the bride to look back on this day and cry. I also didn’t want the guests to think this wedding was a disaster. I may not like Lizbeth very much, but I liked her goofy husband and their cute little girl at least. Besides, I had a feeling my hunter or killer would not act today.

He was here to observe.

He could be one of the many servers or he could be pretending to be a guest. We may have already passed by each other, and I had no idea that it was him, just that he was around because the scent of death had been all over this town since Creed’s car passed through it. That decaying scent was everywhere that I had to stick closer to my bodyguard so I could keep distracting myself with his scent or else I might spill all the yummy desserts I ate on the ground.

For the scent to be this strong, there was a possibility that he was not alone.

“I’m going to the ladies’ room,” I mouthed at Creed when he glanced my way, his phone still stuck in his ear. He was speaking in a language I couldn’t understand. I just knew the woman on the other line was called Aurelia, the Queen of the Mages.

He immediately stood and assisted me there. On our way inside, I caught a glimpse of the Alpha King making his exit with the guests and the newlyweds bowing before him. He was severely wounded and he was handling it like a pro that it escaped everyone’s predatory gaze. When I noticed, he trusted me to keep it a secret.

It was not my story to tell and so I deflected when Creed asked. But that was quite a wound that even my blood could not heal. I was relieved he was leaving. Forcing himself to be here to act like the playful Terrence Beckett everyone knew must have been taking a toll on him.

After inspecting every cubicle inside the room, Creed nodded at me.

“I will be waiting here,” he whispered to my ear after kissing me on the forehead.

My heart swooned. Hearing those words from a man like him sounded like a fairytale. I could still feel his warm lips on my skin as I slipped inside the ladies’ room and closed the door. After doing my business inside the cubicle, I washed my hands and hissed after something in the faucet pricked my hand, making it bleed. The cut disappeared as my hand healed fast although the faucet seemed to have devoured the droplets of my blood on it.

And then I caught the words forming on the glass.

‘Are you looking for me?’

I’d sensed it after stepping out of the cubicle. The only thing that stopped me from making a scene was the

fact that I could also sense that apart from this killer, apart from Creed outside, there was another woİÍ. creature that had not left my side since I was on the island. I couldn’t see him, couldn’t even hear him, but he gave off this same feeling that I felt when I was with Creed comfort. The creature made me feel safe

And that creature was with me in this very second calming my chest.

The words remained on the glass. Again, they were written with blood. Apart from the metal scent, deme was that rotten smell coming from it. My killer must have seen me craning my neck as I glanced around earlier

The words changed

Don’t worry. Soon, you are going to know who I am)

“No thanks I am not interested. I answered

The reply on the glass was instant. You will be!

I scoffed. “You are a goddamn manchild hiding behind this shit and harassing a pregnant women. How can I be interested? If you want me to really look for you then fucking scrm Dappericy Refr god and who knows? just might miss you

The door opened, revealing the bride and three more women who looked finaler. The words wanisted on the glass although the stench lingered as if the manchild wanted me to be the only one to smel in de be women who came and had wolves were not sidetracked by the scent. They were all cherally discussing something when they glanced my way

Lizbeth introduced them one by one. For some reason the women hugged me klere veelne tend and I… didn’t hate it. The bride stared at us with envy as if she wanted to join the groutfeldred my throat and they untangled their arms from me.

“I’m sorry,” Silver said. “I don’t know why I did that. I’m not normally a touchy person. Its med to hug you as soon as I saw you earlier.”

“Me too.” Shanty said, biting her lower lip. “That’s why when we heard you were in here, we followe

“Can I maybe have another hug” Carmie asked

I shook my head. “Nope. My social batteries are fully drained for today: Her houlders sagged so I had to add “Next time, maybe?”

Her face lit up. “Really?”

I shrugged as I hid the longing that I felt for these girls. Were we friends before? I was getting tired and sick of this amnesia thing spreading like a virus like my killers wanted to completely wipe me away from EVERYONE’S

memories

Then again, they might be worried I might end up retrieving my own memories inchading the access t full powers as a divine chaos. Were they worried I might unleash chaod Because I really would. As soon as I had the chance, I’d get my revenge. I was no longer the helpless Elianna Richards How dare they ny to terrorize me like this?

“What a time to be alive and witness the most powerful men in all the realms get roasted by a woman,” Lizbeth said, smiling. “That was the perfect example of girl power right there. Dale said you’ve got a mouth that could make grown men weep.”

“Thanks.”

They all giggled.

“So, how did you win over Alpha Creed?” Silver asked.

“I broke into his house and stole from him.”

I stole his food, to be exact.

Their giggles stopped.

“You’re kidding, aren’t you?” Shanty asked.

“Not at all.”

I leaned against the sink even when I knew I should be returning to the party by now with all the guests looking at me like I was some sort of an apparition. In the past, attending gatherings like this drained my soul because I had a role I needed to play. Now, I didn’t have to give a shit anymore. That’s why it was less taxing for me and my mental health, although for someone who was about to give birth a month from now, this was still a little draining.

“You were able to steal from the alpha?”

I nodded a little too proudly and now, they were looking at me like I was their hero.

“That was something!” Silver exclaimed. “I really like you.”

“Same here. I like myself too.”

I smiled back because I was humble like that. They giggled and the dread I felt from a while ago was replaced by warmth.

“So, how’s life as a soon-to-be mother?” Lizbeth asked. “I envy you, you know. I wasn’t that composed when I was in my third trimester.”

“Well, I wasn’t a fan of exercising, but I promised myself I would be a bit more active when I realized I was pregnant. So far, I’ve been committed to the goal. I’d been actively eating, sleeping, and crying over silly things. Just this morning, when I put on this dress, I cried because I realized I looked too damn good in it.”

I was blabbering, a proof that I was still nervous and exhausted, and yet, they still bought it and laughed although I did cry earlier while I was thinking of my baby’s name with Creed.

I’d been embarrassing myself more often these days. Luckily, only one person got to see that. My bodyguard.

When I finally excused myself, the words from Silver stopped me for a while.

“I know we just met but never stop being yourself. You are incredible the way you are. I’m sorry the words just slipped out. I felt like I had to tell them.”

Tears were leaking from my eyes when I met with Creed outside. Right there and then, he ended the call and dashed to me.

“Who among those women made you cry?” he snarled, ready to charge. “Point the person who needs to-”

“I’ve been told by my exes that I was insufferable, that I have to hide my true self because I disgust people, especially men, when I speak. But those girls inside told me I was incredible and to keep being myself,” I sobbed like a child. “I can’t believe I’m crying just because I was touched.”

Creed’s expression softened. “I must have been failing as your mate to make you see how incredible you are for you to cry like that.”

“No, of course not.”

He told me every day. But I thought it was the mate bond speaking. To hear it from other women was liberating because I was used to women in the mortal realm hating the hell out of me for existing, for constantly seeing me as a threat even when I wasn’t doing anything, even when all I wanted was just to survive.

“But wait. Exes? There is more aside from Richards?”

Suddenly, he looked murderous again.

“Yeah. Exes. Plural. My ex-husband, ex-brother, and then my ex-father.”

The relief that I saw in his eyes made me smile through the tears. Creed wiped every tear away when I thought to ask, “The girls asked me something a while ago and since you can remember our past, then I want to know too. How did I win you over?”

“You bit me.”

My eyes widened.

“And then you cursed me, glared at me, and told me to fuck off.”

After the shock wore off, something else followed, making me look at the Alpha General in a new light. With worry and pity in my eyes, I asked, “Creed, you are not secretly a masochist, are you?”

The phone slipped from his hand. “The fuck, Vicious?”

“I mean how else can you explain how I won you over by doing those things?”

For a moment, Creed glanced up like he was begging their Moon Goddess for extra patience. “It’s just that no one has ever spoken to me the way you did.”

“We live in a dark and unkind world. But then I met you and saw colors for the first time, Vicious. Bright and sparkling ones.” Creed smiled, amusement and tenderness swirling in his eyes. “Each time you smile at me, the world becomes a tolerable place to live in. And when you said you love me the first time? Everything became beautiful. So, if I know light, if I know colors, you have yourself to thank for, Vicious. You introduced them all to me.”
