Chapter 88
Chapter 88
(El)
Cursed. That was what mom and I were. And so were all the new blood. We had a knack for attracting the wrong kind of men. All the papers that were scattered in my room that had the word ‘Black’ in it were ripped to several pieces. Even the black and red fur wolf I’d sketched had splashes of blood.
My room was as chaotic as my life. The very furious beast left claw marks on the bed, including a message from my stalker on the wall.
‘You ought to be thinking of me, Elianna. Just me.’
“Entitled motherfucker,” I mumbled as bile rose in my throat, my stomach plummeting.
He wrote the words using blood, and not just any blood.
The blood of the wounded dragon guard Uncle Jack had assigned to me. He must have visited and didn’t see me tonight, that’s why he threw a tantrum. I wrapped my arms around my womb protectively.
“Elianna! Are you alright? I just heard what happened-“Uncle Anson froze upon seeing the new decoration in my room.
“Uncle, what do you think is stronger than a dragon?” I asked while gathering the bag I hid under the bed which had the gold bars they had given me. I checked and my precious collection was safe from the monster’s wrath, including my jewelry box. For someone who lived penniless for years, I didn’t think this hoarding habit of mine would stop anytime soon despite all this madness. “How can a mere werewolf trespass in this place, break through the spell, and injure a dragon?”
“I saw Max’s condition,” Uncle Jack responded, emerging behind his brother’s back “He had wounds that one would only get if you fought another dragon. You may have broken your mother’s barrier around the island, but this house is still protected by mana. Still, he got in. Again.”
He sucked in a breath, and I was sure he could inhale it as well, the barrage of scent’s the entitled monster left behind, which was similar to Landon’s, to Creed’s, and even to my uncles, but not quite. There was an underlying scent there that I could not understand.
But this meant one thing. He was slowly revealing himself.
“A man who could dismantle a spell excellently, inflict that kind of pain to a dragon, and shapeshift into a wolf afterwards…” Uncle Jack spoke, his expression becoming rigid. “A tribrid. Your stalker is a goddamn tribrid, Elianna.”

‘You may have defeated me today, but mark my words. Your glorious days will soon end. They will come and finish what I started. A new world will rise. The royalties in all the realms will fall one by fucking one. They would sneak in, destroy you from the inside. You would not even know you are rotting until it happens. They would strike at once-‘
Hugo failed to finish his sentence after Jacques slammed his sword deeper in the king’s chest. I glanced at my brother and stopped his arm.
“We need to hear the rest-”
“Can’t you see? He is bluffing, Anson. His pride could not accept that he has been defeated by people younger than him. He is screwing with our heads as his final resort-”
“Hugo is still the father who raised us, Jack. Hearing him out is the least we could do. If you do not wish to hear his words, get out of here. I will spare him a minute at least.”
Hugo knew his death was inevitable. It was coming any second now. Yet, his eyes glimmered upon the idea that he was

succeeding until his last moment to poison my mind. I leaned closer. “I am sorry about my brother. I could not stop him. father. Please speak.”
“I knew you would come around, boy. You have always been different from your brother.”
Boy.
Jack and I had been existing for a few centuries. However, there was a thousand years between us and this man. And for someone who lived that long, anyone else will remain a child. A foolish boy.
“Go on. Tell me about this new world, father,” I rasped, indulging him as I put my hand over his chest.
Blood bubbled in his mouth. Still, he forced himself to speak for the last time. “My son will-”
His eyes widened as I pressed the sword harder. “Oops. Sorry. Time is up, father. I am no longer interested.”
Jack laughed beside me while I grinned and watched the same expression all the people who died in his hands had during
their last minute.
Betrayed.
It was also the same expression our mother wore every single moment of her life upon realizing that she did not marry a protector, but a child predator who lusted over her own daughter. Even Eloise had that face when Jacques and I were forced to send her away.
Hugo died with his eyes wide open. I looked up at the crimson sky, hoping our mother was watching. It was over. At last.
‘I thought he got you there,’ Jack said, patting my back.
‘He lost me with the ‘son’ part.’
He chuckled.
We all knew that Hugo was infertile. The physicians had confirmed it. All his previous relationships before my mother did not result in a child and not for a lack of trying.
Or so we thought.
I knew that my brother was recalling the same thing tonight. After Hugo’s death, we did not spend another minute thinking about him, especially about his last words. It was a waste of time and energy. But thinking about it now, what if he truly had a son somewhere? A son he kept from us? A son that would fulfill his plans? And if it was true, who in the world was he?
All the recent events in the realms replayed in my mind. The humans’ alliance against the werewolves, Richards, the betas rebellion against the alphas, the rogue mages… What if they were all connected? What if they were pawns all along? What if those happened to distract us as they quietly weave their way towards us? What if we were truly missing something important here?
Unanswered questions filled my mind, each one of those were related to the new blood, to Eloise and Elianna. In every attack, they attempted capturing my niece and getting Black out of the equation.
“This is no longer just a werewolves’ fight. This is a fight against all the realms, against all the royals, against the peace that we fought so hard to obtain. The current new blood is Elianna,” Jacques said as we watched our niece run away from this bloody chaos. “Without her mate, she would not reach her full potential as a tamer and would therefore be unable to stop this revolt. In any case, if they do capture her, her powers might help the other side win against us. Elianna and Creed are the real targets all along. That’s why they have been trying to break them apart.”
Alistair knocked on the door, stealing our attention.
“The new guard arrived earlier than expected. Shall I send him in?” he asked hesitantly upon seeing Eli’s room.

Despite the rage boiling within us, my brother and I managed to smirk. “Here he is, not wasting a second, showing us that with or without their memories, there is no way they are breaking apart.”
Jacques shook his head as he glanced at the ripped sketches on the floor and on the words the stalker left behind. “I think the other side is getting desperate. Unfortunately, their enemy is Black.”
