Fixer POV
I slept soundly last night, for the first time. I had good, positive dreams of the baby, Tank, and me.
It was a nice dream, one I would never have ever thought possible, but now? I feel I have a chance for happiness and a real family to love.
It was good to get some answers, and although I have more questions floating around in my head, I have enough to find a kind of peace.
“Sit up,” Tank said, and I rubbed my eyes. As I sat up, I had been to the bathroom and returned, not wanting the day to start yet, and must have dozed back off to sleep, as I hadn’t noticed that Tank didn’t return to the bed when he got up for the bathroom.
Tank placed a tray of food in front of me, carefully climbed in beside me, and took the tray back. Only one overfilled plate was on the tray, and two coffees. Tank cut up some of the food and turned to me with a smile.
“Open up.” He held some food at my lips and waited, his sparkling eyes flicking from my eyes to my lips and back up. A smile on his cheeky lips, that said, I was not going to get to feed myself, he was going to play dad. I couldn’t help but giggle, and that was enough for him to push the fork loaded with food into my mouth, his other hand held out below the fork, to catch any that missed my mouth.
“We need to call your grams and gramps, tell them the news, before they find out for themselves from one of their many sources. That I am sure are watching your every move. Savage warned you of how interfering they can be, wanting to dominate your life, part of why he left them; they suffocated him with what they wanted and their version of love. Can you imagine their response if they find out from someone else?” Tank asked as he finished off the plate, because I was now full.
“Okay.” Tank moved the tray to the table and returned with my phone.
“Now?” I asked, shocked, how he could want to talk to them while we were still in bed.
“Now.” He dialed the number on video chat.
“Hi Fixer.” Gramps voice was heard, and then his face appeared.
“Hey, Gramps, is Grams around? I want to talk to you both.” I asked. Tank was holding the phone in front of us both, so we could see their reactions.
“Give me a sec, will put you on the big screen.
Soon you could see the sitting room, both grandparents were sitting on the lounge, staring at us on their huge screen.
“Sweetheart, don’t tell me you have called to cancel tomorrow’s catch-up, we are so looking forward to seeing you.” I had forgotten I was supposed to go there for lunch, and catch up, too much had been going on lately, and the date had slipped my mind.
“No, no, we will be there,” I replied, not letting Tank cancel again; he had to come. He promised.
“We gave some news that couldn’t wait for tomorrow,” Tank said, and paused.
“Well, don’t make us wait. What is it?” Grams is always the pushy one.
“Fixer and I are going to be parents.”
“WHAT!!!!!.” Grams burst into tears, and Gramps grinned as he pulled her to him to console her. I knew they were happy tears.
“We have to have a party, invite our friends, this is huge news. How far along? We have to have a baby shower.” Grams prattled on for a while, as we waited for her to finish.
“How do you feel about becoming a grandpa?” I asked, not the reason I came for, thought it might break the ice.
“Best news ever, wish my woman was alive to see you, she would be so proud.” He said solem
“If I have a girl, mum’s name will be part of her, haven’t decided if it be her first name, or second, I want to add Grandma to the mix too. For a boy, we are looking at Grandpa being in the mix, but still not decided if first or second, plenty of time to think about it.”
“That would be nice, honoring their memory like that.” He looked at me more closely, like he knew there was more to come.
“Tomorrow, Tank and I are going to your parents’ home for lunch. They have been told about the baby and are inviting ten close friends. I would like you to come out of hiding and greet them. Can you do that? This baby could be a healing balm for all of you.” He didn’t look so pleased with that news.
“I am not sure that’s a good idea.” He started to argue.
“Look, sooner or later, you need to be seen, make up, even if the relationship never fully heals, you will only feel guilty if one or both of them die, without ever having had the chance to find out. You want to live with what ifs? They are going to be in a very good mood, to celebrate this child, so they will be more receptive, plus having guests there, you know your mother would never make a fuss in public, even if they are close friends, she’s too stuck in her ways to do that.” I pushed. I really
want them to make up.
“Let me sleep on it.” I guess that was the best I could do.
“I am in my workshop if you need me for anything.” left him to continue doing whatever it was he was doing, and I set to work on that Walla, it has more meaning to me now, and I so much like to see it restored back to it’s glory, I had asked Prez what his club name was and when I do a paint job, will put his name on it, with our new club logo.
