Claimed by the Biker Giant (Maxine and Tank) novel Chapter 187

Tank POV

Telling the Grandparents about the baby went about as I had expected. Grams, overboard with ideas and suggestions, and not giving us a chance to say a word, almost as if she had expected us to go along with everything. Thank goodness Gramps was on the ball and stopped her before she decided to forget the meeting tomorrow.

I left Fixer after a bruising kiss in the kitchen, which should last me a few hours, and went in hunt for Prez. I heard him come home late last night, after spending time with Sticks and the baby. I hadn’t told him about my pending fatherhood yet, and I was hoping no one else had either. I don’t think they would deliberately, but it could have slipped out in conversation.

“Hey, Zero, any sign of Prez?” He was sliming as he worked with Blaze and Jinx behind the bar.

“Cells.” He replied, as he continued with the inventory, and I guess some ordering of more alcohol, it was amazing how much they could consume.

I found him inside the accountant’s cell. The man had lived all night, and although he looked like he was on death’s door, he still had enough wits about him to tell us all to go fuk ourselves. Seems to be his fallback line when he doesn’t know what else to say.

“Morning.” I greeted Stephen and the doc in the room.

“Hey, we were just discussing whether we want more information or let him die. The doctor can give him something to make him last longer, but at the moment, no question comes to mind.

Guess once he’s dead, I will think of something more.” He joked, seemingly in a good mood.

“What’s left to ask, we can find out by doing a little digging into the club history and school yearbooks. How about bringing Alan over for a visit and seeing if he has any questions? He doesn’t need to come down here; we can place the accountant in the back shed and put guards on him.” I wasn’t worried one way or the other; if he lived or not, he had dirty hands. Alan might want to arrest him; either way, I know Alan would turn a blind eye if he had nothing to ask.

“Good idea. Doc leaves him as he is. Stephen, can you and your men move him to the back shed, the one at the far back, and keep watch on him, no one in or out.” We left the accountant and went to Prez’s office. I took a seat in front of him as he made the call.

“Alan will be here in an hour. He was on his day off, and it would come as a friend visit.” Prez said as he leaned back and pinched the bridge of his nose.

“You okay?” I asked, and he looked very tired.

“Yeah, if all goes well, we should have Sticks home tomorrow, the nurse will stay till her six weeks are up, as she was not supposed to lift anything heavy. The nurse will help with the baby, the wound, and anything she needs. I am just tired, stayed up too late, and started too early. But I will adjust.” I am glad a lot of this is over, so Prez can relax and enjoy the baby when it comes home.

“If you had come to dinner, you would have been told that Fixer is expecting.” I didn’t get to say much else. He was out of his chair, like he just gained some energy spike, and was pulling me out of my chair, with strength I didn’t know he had, and was slapping me on the back, and congratulating me over and over again.

“You need advice, or someone to talk to. I am your man. I think Sticks and I went through hell and back during her pregnancy, so I will understand when you want to gripe to someone.” He was offering me his ear, and the wisdom of someone who had just been through it, and I appreciated the sentiment, but I doubt we would have the same issues, like he doesn’t have a Grandmother who wants to take over your life, but I thanked him any way, and assured him I would come to him if I needed guidance.

Prez was like a whole new person, chatting about the birth, the baby, the pain that Sticks was still in, and how often she fell into tears over almost nothing. It was tiring, but it will be worth it in the end. Once she’s home and settled back into a routine, she will be fine. I think we will be back to how we used to be, before he became the Prez. I missed the old him, the one I grew up with, but the pressure of being Prez had put a toll on him, and he changed. But now I see glimpses of the Prez, my friend and pal.

There was a knock on the door, and Alan came in. He wore jeans, a t-shirt, and a big smile.

“How’s Sticks and the baby? I haven’t had a chance to go and visit her yet. My girlfriend was telling me off, and we were going to head over this afternoon. Does she need anything?” Wow, that was one quick offload.

“If all goes well today, she be home tomorrow, under the care of a nurse, who will live with us for a few weeks.” He replied.

“Good, good. Now what can I do for you?” He asked, knowing his offer to come visit was not just to chat about Sticks and the baby.

“Tank?” Prez offered me a chance to tell Alan before we took him to see the accountant.

“Fixer is pregnant.” I beamed as if I had done something great and impossible.

“You didn’t take long, congratulations.” He shook my hand and asked all the usual questions.

“Now the real reason.” He pushed, we couldn’t put anything by him,

We told him we had the accountant but didn’t mention the others, that we had been questioning him all night, and that he was on his last legs, and asked if he had any questions.
