Chapter 330
Skunk POV
I had a spring in my step and a lighter heart as I walked to the clubhouse for breakfast with my
future family by my side. I still can’t believe she said yes.
Pip said YES!
“Potage,” Dan said as I led Pip to the table.
“Same,” Pip added.
I returned with porridge for them and a plate of bacon, mushrooms, and tomatoes for me. I thought eggs might be messy if Dan tried to feed me, so I left them off the plate and put a bowl of berries and fruit on it. Coffee for Pip and me, and juice for Dan. I placed Dan on my knee between Pip and me, and he ate his porridge before feeding us both and himself the fruit.
“Tempest, can we organise the outside area for Saturday, say lunchtime for a party?” I asked. Tempest, Storm, Wrench, Doom, Fingers, Jip and Sprocket were all at the table, having stayed the night, and all eyes turned to me.
“Yep, I can organise that. What’s the occasion?”
“Tandy will arrive on Friday night and bring the paperwork. I am going to adopt Dan, and at the same time, take Pip here as my lady. She…” I didn’t get to finish what I was going to say, and Wrench let out this loud scream that had heads at other tables turning to watch as Wrench rushed around the table and pulled her sister into her arms, both of them now in tears.
Hope they are happy tears, I thought.
“As I was saying, Pip said yes. Jip, can you organise a cut? Storm, Doom, Sprocket, can you be with me, and I guess the same ladies that Doom had at his?” It was all short notice, but it felt right.
“Do Nightingale and Blaze know?” Tempest asked, and my face fell.
“Not yet, I wanted to check that it could be done this Saturday. Although I have Tandy coming over, I would have a private one if it was too short notice, and have a cut ceremony later, when
convenient.”
“Better give them a call now, and congratulations.” The rest of the table congratulated us. As Pip and Wrenches‘ crying stopped, Dan looked confused over his mum’s tears, and kept looking at me
in concern.
“They’re happy tears, Champ,” I said with confidence. I didn’t feel.
I pulled out my phone and put it on speaker. Dad answered on the first ring.
$75 Port
“A bit early in the morning to be ringing son, what’s up?”
“Have you on speaker? The gangs here, is Mum around?”
“Yep, let me call her and put you on speaker.” We could hear him calling her, and she, too, asked
him what was wrong. In the distance, a door was closing, as if to keep this private.
“Alright, your mum’s here, and we are all ears, what’s wrong?” Dad said, expecting the worst. They
always think I call only for problems, which is part of why I don’t call often.
“You busy Saturday?”
“We can change our plans. What’s up?”
“I am getting married,” I replied, casually, and received a scream from mum that outdid Wrench’s
earlier one.
“You, I didn’t know you were dating, give me the details,” Mum screamed over the phone.
“Pip, those voices and the loudest one are my parents, Blaze and Nightingale, Dad, mum, this is Pip and my son Dan. Say hello to phone Dan.”
“Hello,” he said shyly, at the same time as Pip.
“Why do you have a son? We will be there tomorrow. I need details, and not over the phone.” The phone went dead after Mum’s growl.
“That went well. Can they stay in Pip’s old room?” I asked sarcastically, looking at a grinning Tempest for approval.
“That did go well, and yes,” Storm answered, those around the table laughing, and Pip looked at me
with concern.
“Mum can be a little emotional at times, when it comes to her children,” I answered Pip’s look, and Dan touched her cheek, knowing something was going on, and worried about his mum. Pip nodded in understanding.
