Nancy smiled. "How was everything?"
"It was great," Vanessa replied with a smile. "Very authentic. The premium steaks were incredibly tender and juicy."
"Come by again soon." Nancy handed her a beautifully packaged bag. "This is some homemade limoncello. It's on the house. Wishing you both a sweet and lasting relationship."
"Thank you."
As they drove back into the city, Alistair asked casually, "Are you staying at my place tonight?"
The implication was crystal clear.
Vanessa leaned back in the passenger seat, hesitating for only a second before nodding.
"I already packed my things."
"I'll have someone move them over tomorrow."
When they walked into his living room, Vanessa dropped her bag and coat on the arm of the sofa.
"I noticed you barely ate anything earlier. Want me to make you some simple pasta?"
Alistair raised an eyebrow, a faint smile spreading through his dark eyes.
"Alright. Thank you."
Vanessa opened the fridge and managed to find some spaghetti, eggs, and a pack of bacon.
She walked into the kitchen, tied on an apron, and started boiling the water.
The soft lighting spilled over her, illuminating her practiced, methodical movements.
Alistair sat on the sofa, quietly watching her slender silhouette moving around his kitchen.
The warm, golden light cast a cozy glow over the room, filling the quiet space with a peaceful, domestic intimacy.
Before long, Vanessa finished cooking the pasta and served it in a white porcelain bowl, the hot steam wafting gently into the air.
She looked up at the man on the couch, her voice soft.
"Mr. Howard, the pasta is ready. Come eat."
Alistair stood up, walked over, and took a seat at the dining table.
"I didn't have much to work with. Try it and see if you like it."
