As it turned out, much to their disappointment, their parents were already at the penthouse. They were already halfway here when their mom called.
I was actually happy that they arrived when they did. As eager as I was to bond them, I wanted to clear the air with their family first. Especially Sylvia.
She started glaring at me the moment she walked though the door. Mom Bee greeted me with a hug and muttered words that she was happy that I was okay and home.
While Elias and Mom Bee finished cooking dinner, I helped set the table and then joined the others in the living
room.
Alex pulled me onto his lap before I could take a seat next to him. Colour flooded my cheeks but I relaxed against his chest. My eyes locked with Alister’s for a few seconds before I quickly looked away.
“How are you doing Daisy?” he asked softly.
“I’m doing okay, thank you for asking.”
Sylvia scoffed. “How can you be doing okay when you’re the reason my boys got injured?”
“Sylvia.”
“Mom!”
She ignored them and leaned closer. “My boy was almost beaten to death because those men were looking for you!” she growled pointing a finger at me.
More words fell from her lips but I couldn’t hear it over the sudden roar that filled my ears.
Beaten.
I knew they weren’t telling me everything but I didn’t want to push it, but I wish I had.
“Baby girl.” Alex cupped my cheeks and pressed his forehead to mine. “Breathe with me.”
I sucked in a breath even though I wasn’t having a panic attack. Breathing with him helped me calm myself, but it didn’t make the pain and anger disappear.
“You lied to me,” I whispered. “You all lied to me.”
“I’m sorry.”
I curled my hand into a fist and hit him. “Why did you lie to me?”
“You were already dealing with so much, we didn’t want to add to your burden,” Val answered my question.
“I’m not some fragile-” I broke off, realizing that I was fragile.
I had been for years. I ran away from my problems and hide instead of working it out. I suffer from panic attacks when someone knocks on the damn door!

Who the hell had I been kidding? They deserved someone stronger than me. Someone who wasn’t going to hide at the first sign of trouble. Someone who didn’t have panic attacks for the stupidest things.
“Daisy–girl, whatever you’re thinking, stop.” Alex gripped my chin and forced my eyes to his. “It’s not true. Whatever you’re thinking, it’s not true.”
I swallowed, tears filling my eyes. “It is.”
Alex’s eyes narrowed. He growled and did the thing I least expected him to do.
“I’m not letting you go,” he whispered as he gripped my hair and tugged my head back. “You belong with us.”
I screamed as his teeth sank into my shoulder.
Someone was yelling.
Loud growled filled the room.
But all I could focus on was the unbearable pain filling my body. It hurt. It hurt so bad. The pain could even be compared to what I felt when I was hit by the debris of the explosion.
I blinked, trying to clear the black dots that appeared in my line of vision. It got more and more until everything around me faded and the darkness swallowed me whole.

I blinked up at the familiar canopy of the bed in the nest.
My ears were still ringing. The pain I felt earlier were just a dull throb. I was too scared to move in case it made things worse. But the bed shift to my right and a second later something thick, warm and a little raspy licked the throbbing spot on my shoulder.
It all came rushing back.
“You are an asshole,” I croaked.
Alex chuckled. “Yours.”
“Alex.”
Sighing, he raised his head and stared down at me.
My eyes instantly dropped to his mouth when he started licking the blood from his lips. My blood.
“You said you wanted us to bond you.”
I wanted it, but that was before I found out exactly what John did to Elias.
“They tortured him,” I whispered.
Tears burned my eyes, and unable to stop them, they escaped. Alex reached up and caught one with his thumb.
“Baby girl, if life was perfect, if there was only goodness in it, we would never have met you. Dad Ben once told me that everything happens for a reason and I believe him.” His eyes darted between mine. “I know things

haven’t been easy for you and I understand why you’re scared to open your heart, but believe me when I tell you that what happened, happened for a reason.”
“You got hurt.”
“And there’s always a possibility of that happening again, Daisy. We won’t be able to stop that.”
I sucked in a shaky breath.
“I love you baby girl,” he said softly, “I want to spend the rest of my life with you, experience a lot of first with you and make you realize that the world can be beautiful if you just open your mind.” Alex shifted on the bed, pulling me closer to him. “If we…if there was a chance to turn back time and do things over again, I wouldn’t change a thing because this is how things are meant to be.”
Reaching up, I gripped the back of his neck and pulled his lips down to mine.
“I’m still mad at you,” I whispered a few seconds later when we broke apart.
“I know.”
He leaned down to kiss me again but I turned my head.
“Your parents?”
“They left.”
“Elias and Val?”
“Right here, flower.”
They moved closer to the bed. Elias took a seat next to me on the edge of the bed, forcing Alex to move back slightly. His eyes darted over my face and then dropped to my shoulder.
“Does it hurt?” Val questioned, leaning over Alex to get a closer look.
“A little.”
“That’s because I need to nurse it,” Alex muttered.
He winked at me before he lowered his head and started licking at his bite.
I didn’t feel any different.
When an alpha marked his omega, the bond was supposed to snap into place, binding them together forever. I couldn’t feel Alex.
“You should let her eat something, Alex.” Elias frowned when he didn’t move away.
I reached for his hand and squeezed.
“I had things planned a little differently,” Val muttered. “Never mind, I’ll improvise.”
“We’re not doing anything until Daisy eats,” Elias growled.
“It’s okay,” I softly assured him. “I’m not hungry.”

He pursed his lips.
Alex’s head suddenly snapped up. “What the hell are you doing Val?”
“Getting comfortable.”
“I don’t want your dick anywhere near my face,” Alex growled.
He shifted and a second later a loud thud filled the room.
Val cursed.
Sitting up, I moved closer to the edge of the bed and leaned down to take a look at Val. He was on his back, pants tangled around his ankles. My eyes trailed up and locked on his semi–hard cock.
I licked my lips.
