“Hey,” I said softly.
Daisy’s eyes darted up to me and immediately darted away again. “Hi.”
I hesitated in the doorway, waiting for her to invite me in, but she didn’t. There was an awkwardness between us that hasn’t been there before and it was driving me crazy.
“Can I come in?”
Daisy nodded.
My eyes darted around the room as I entered.
Her clothes were scattered around one side of the bed and on the other side it was folded neatly where she sat, busy sorting through it. Was she planning on leaving?
My heart squeezed painfully in my chest but I ignored the pain and took a seat on the edge of the bed.
“Daisy, we need to talk.”
She paused for a few seconds and then finished folding the shirt and placing it on the pile of other neatly folded shirts before she raised her head to look at me.
Instead of saying a word, I showed her.
“John’s men trashed the apartment when they came looking for you. I found it on the floor in the nest.”
Daisy swallowed loudly. “Does Alex know?”
“No.”
Licking her lips, she took the box from me and silently studied it. “Elias got it for me that day when the man showed up at the door. Your sister told me that there’s a chance that the suppressants might mess with my control.”
“Were you planning on telling me and Alex?” I asked her.
“Yeah, but stuff happened.” Daisy shrugged.
“Are you going to leave us, Daisy?”
She looked at the clothes. “I’m thinking,” she muttered. “It helps me think.”
“So you are leaving.” I ran a hand through my hair and tried my best to stop myself from saying something I might regret.
birth
“I was thinking about it,” she whispered. “He was right, you know? I was going to use the stuff that happened with John as an excuse to leave. But I…”
“You?” I pressed.
“I don’t want to leave.”

Our eyes locked. My heartbeat increased as excitement filled me. Those five little words were the best I heard in a while. I moved closer, but Daisy held up a hand to stop me.
“We need to talk about a lot of things, Val. I want to stay with you because I…I love you, but we need to talk.”
“Okay.”
I reached for her, but she stopped me again.
“I’m serious, Val.”
“I know.”
Daisy stared at me with narrowed eyes and a hand held up, palm towards me. I scooted closer earning a finger pointed at me.
“Val,” she warned softly.
“Come on, petal. I’m a man starved for attention.”
Colour flooded her cheeks but she didn’t move closer like I expected. The moment her eyes darted away from me, I swooped in and pulled her onto my lap. Burying my face against the crook of her neck, I sucked in a deep breath and hugged her closer.
With the suppressants out of her system she smelled like herself again.
A sigh fell from Daisy’s lips as her tense body slowly relaxed and her arms slipped around my neck.
“I hate that you’re avoiding us,” I whispered against her ear. “We miss you, petal.”
“Miss you too.”
Pulling away, I cupped her cheek and silently studied her face. She had dark circles under her eyes. Wasn’t she getting enough sleep? What’s been keeping her up at night?
I slowly leaned down, giving her time to pull away if she wanted to. But Daisy tilted her head back a few inches and parted her lips. It was the permission I needed. My hand slipped to the back of her neck to pull her closer as I captured her lips. It was supposed to be a sweet kiss but it turned heated within seconds.
Her lips parted under the pressure of mine and a second later her tongue slipped into my
mouth.
A shuddered raced through me when she started sucking on my tongue. My hand slipped up into her hair to tug her mouth away from mine. “You said that we needed to talk so I suggest we go do that talking before I undress you and worship every inch of your body.”
The colour in her cheeks darkened.
Smirking, I kissed her again and then stood.
“They’re busy in the kitchen making dinner.”
Daisy raised an eyebrow. “Alex’s leg is broken and I’m certain the doctor told Elias to stay off his leg.”
“While he’s healing. It’s been two weeks, petal. The wound is nearly healed completely. You’ve been taking good

care of it.”
Her eyes darted away but she remained silent.
I carried her out of her room and into the kitchen where my brothers were busy arguing. Daisy squirmed, eager to get down and intervene. Letting out a sigh, I lowered her to her feet and watched as she hurried over to them.
I wasn’t lying when I told her that I was starving for her attention.
Alex had asked us to keep our distance and not push her when we got home to give her time to work over what had happened. She seemed fine but the day after they got home, the nightmares started. Elias was the one that snuck into her room to check up on her, but he never stayed because she didn’t want him to.
There hadn’t been much talking from her side at all.
She’d eat with us, clean Elias and Alex’s wounds and then disappeared until it was time to eat again.
He wanted to give her space and I understood that, but keeping it all bottled up never did anyone any good. Feelings were made to be talked about and emotions made to be expressed freely.
I was a little jealous that she was taking such good care of them. So much so that I actually complimented injuring myself just so I could get some of her attention.
A phone started ringing somewhere in the apartment.
Alex sigh. “Mom,” he muttered, catching my eyes. “I’ve been trying my best to keep them away.”
“Why?” Daisy questioned.
“I don’t want you to feel overwhelmed. You’re still-”
“Answer that phone and tell them that they can come over,” Daisy interrupted. “They are your parents and they must be going out of their minds with worry.”
“I just wanted to give you time to work through what happened,” Alex said softly.
“They already dislike me, Alex. Keeping them away for my sake is only going to make them dislike me more.‘
They stared at each other for a few minutes. Finally Alex looked away.
“Fine,” he growled as he stormed off, or rather tried to.
I watched him until he disappeared from sight before I turned my attention back to Daisy.
“”
She stood by the counter, eyes darting over the dishes. “We should probably double the portions,” she muttered. “They will want to stay for dinner.”
“Right.”
Elias nodded.
“Daisy says that she needs to talk to us,” I said the moment Alex returned to the kitchen.
“I do,” she muttered, avoiding eye contact.

“You’re not going back home,” Alex growled.
I would have slapped him on the back of the head if he was any closer. What happened to all the shit he said about Daisy making her own decisions?
“I want to.”
My eyes snapped back to Daisy.
The knife slipped from Elias’s hand and clattered to the floor. Didn’t she just tell me that she wanted to stay because she loved us?
“I have to pack my stuff,” Daisy said so softly, I almost didn’t hear her. “I need some of my own things. My own clothes and other stuff.”
“What…? Daisy…” Alex sucked in a breath. “You’re going to stay?”
Her eyes darted around and lingered on her hands for a few seconds.
“I love you,” she breathed. “All of you. What happened made me realize that I…I want to stay with you. I have issues and Elias talked about maybe seeing a therapist.”
“You don’t have to.”
“I want to,” Daisy reassured Elias.
“Baby girl.” Alex took a step closer but she held out her hand stopping him.
“I want to work on the issues I have,” she reassured him. “It’s something I should have done after what happened. I would appreciate your support and help but I don’t want you to push me.”
“You already have that, flower. We respect your boundaries,” Elias told her. “And we’ll help you with whatever you want.”
She nodded.
“There’s more?” Alex questioned, suddenly all business–like.
Daisy swallowed. She straightened her shoulders and pushed her chin up as her eyes darted between the three of us.
“I…I want you to bond me.”
The air locked in my throat. Did I hear her right? I glanced around the kitchen, seeing the same expression on their faces. She just said what we had been waiting to hear since we realized that she belonged to us.
“Are you sure?” Elias asked, snapping out of his shock first.
“I am.”
“But?” I asked.
There was a but coming, I could feel it.

“But I don’t want any kids.”
“Ever?” Elias breathed, swaying slightly.
“Maybe someday, just not now.” A smile slipped onto her face. “Way into the future. I want to work on myself first before…”
I nodded. “Understandable.”
“Anything else?”
“Nothing I can think of at the moment.”
“Good.” I closed the space between us and jerked her against my body. “Call mom and tell her that there’s been a change of plans,” I growled at my brothers. “They can come over in a few days once we finished bonding our omega.”
