As expected, it was so hard for Lucian to look for his mother in this pack, because he had not been here for close to two decades. Everything had changed. It was so different.

Of course, Cam and the other warriors didn’t understand that, but they didn’t ask many questions. They followed Lucian from one place to the other and ask around about the woman named Meita.

Even if this was news that she was dead, it would do too. At the very least, Lucian would get a closure about what happened to his mother.

“You can stay here, I want to go to the beach for a while.” Lucian got out of the car and when Cam was about to follow him, he stopped him. “No, I want to be alone.” He raised his hand to stop the young warrior. “Don’t follow me, I will be back in the morning. You go first with the other.”

“What? I can’t leave you alone here.” Cam walked towards Lucian, but Ray stopped him immediately. “At least let me, accompany you.”

“No, let him be.” Ray grabbed Cam’s elbow and dragged him back to the car.

“We shouldn’t have left him alone, it is not good for him. He needs…”

“Declan,” Rania replied.

choice.

Of course, Rania knew how much he was disappointed on his former royal beta, but she had a reason why she asked Maximus to consider that.

“Max, he is your former friend, your relationship was great before I came to the picture,” Rania said softly, trying to get her point through.

“He was. I don’t care about it now. It is already good for him that I didn’t kill him.” Maximus was serious with his threat. This was not a threat. He meant it.

“Max.” Rania lifted her body up and then cupped his face, trying to get him understand. “People changed. He can change too. He can see how happy we are right now and I think it will make him change his mind.”

“He will never change, Rania. You are too naïve to think that he will suddenly change. I know him and I tell you that he will not. He tried to hurt you once, there is no guarantee that he will not do it again.”

“You need to learn to forgive, Max.”

Maximus shook his head. “I learn to forgive, Rania, but I am not stupid enough to bring someone with ill intention close to me again.” Maximus pressed his fingers against Rania’s lips, stopped her from talking. “This is the end of discussion.”
