Cassian,

“Congratulations! Your Highness. Now ask for anything from His Majesty! He is obliged to fulfill your request!” Sarah’s cheerful voice rang out the moment Roana caught the last fish, ending with two more than I had.

While I had been too busy watching her, she won.

She grinned proudly, her chin slightly raised, looking at me with eyes sparkling like she had just conquered the world. “So I

won!”

I couldn’t help but smile back, my gaze lingering on her beaming face longer than I should have. “So what do you want from

me?”

She paused, her lips pressing together as if holding back laughter. Then she leaned closer, her breath brushing against my cheek. “My wish is that…” She smirked mischievously, her eyes narrowing with playful challenge. It was clear she was going to say something unpredictable.

Take me home when I get drunk!”

“What?” I blinked, pressing my lips together as I tried to process her words. “Is this your wish for the year? I would have taken you home without-”

“Nah. Nah. Honey!” She tapped my arm, grinning wider. “Take me home when I am drunk.”

The way she dragged that last word made something twist tightly in my stomach.

But I didn’t grasp the full depth of hy

wish until I found myself sitting in front of four drunkards. Sean and Keane were definitely a mess. Keane especially tried to keep his composure, sitting stiffly like some honorable knight in front of Roana, though his eyes kept drooping. But what shocked me most was how much Roana could drink without losing a shred of her sanity.

“Why aren’t you drinking?” Roana finally looked at me after knocking out three of them like it was nothing. Her cheeks were flushed, her eyes glassy but sharp. “The wine is the best. Sean is perfect guy, isn’t he? He has everything, he can do everything!”

“Really?” My face darkened, my jaw tightening. Now she was praising another man right in front of me.

“Yeah. Look at him. Just look at this man!” She grabbed Sean’s arm and tried to pull him up. He was already flat on the ground, snoring softly on the grass.

“He-He is handsome, his house feels like he-heaven, and he knows how to cook, make wine, and cheese,” she said, her words slurring slightly. “Even-”

She suddenly stood, swaying dangerously. Before I could guess er next move, she lifted his shirt, exposing his unconscious belly.

“Look at them. Abs. He has abs!” She announced it like she had discovered treasure.

She tried to touch his muscles, grinning wickedly.

My body reacted before my mind did. A sharp growl tore from Cyrus, and I moved instantly, grabbing her arms and pulling her into my chest. I held her tight-too tight-my pulse pounding in my ears.

“That’s enough, Little Marshmallow. You can’t randomly touch another man!” My voice came out deep and cold.

She looked up at me, tilting her head like a confused kitten. Her lashes fluttered, then she broke into a grin. “Oh, isn’t it Cassian? The little liar!”

“You liar. How dare you lie to me about jasmine-flavored marshmallow? I asked that café. They said they never made one. Tell me, where did you get them?” She tried to push me away, but I scooped her into my arms with ease, her legs dangling slightly.

Oops. She was still holding onto that? I really shouldn’t have told her.

“Enough, Little Princess. You’ve drunk too much.”

“I didn’t. Don’t change the subject.” She snapped, looking furious now, “I want to cat jasmine-flavored marshmallow too. I want to eat. I want to eat!” She kicked her legs lightly, hitting my chest with tiny thumps. Her brows scrunched, her lower lip trembling. “Why did you lie to me? I was so excited! You liar!”

“Sorry,” I murmured, cupping her flushed face gently and letting her sit on my lap. Her skin was warm, her breath soft against my neck. “But the jasmine-flavored marshmallow is only for me.”

She froze, staring at me. Then her eyes wavered, tears slowly gathering like dew. “Why?” Her voice cracked. “Because you

don’t like me? Because I’m not worth it?”

My eyes widened. Her soft sniffles cut right through me. Even Sean and Keane lifted their heads like startled puppies.

Why are you crying, Your Highness? Do you want to drink more?” They crawled closer, wobbling, and grabbed an empty

bottle.

“No more?” Keane blinked at the dry bottle, confused. Sean shook it constantly, desperate for a drop.
