After Sophie finished speaking, she edged a little closer to Noah, and a black bow quietly appeared in her hand.

All of a sudden, she nocked an arrow and let it fly straight at Noah.

Noah instinctively dodged to the side, and the arrow missed him. A look of regret flashed across Sophie’s face.

“Sorry, I thought I saw a mutant beast behind you, so I shot… You’re not hurt, are you?”

Her acting was so convincing that no one would ever guess she was faking it.

Noah furrowed his brow slightly as he noticed the mutant cheetah still circling nearby. He asked, “Have you seen a girl around here?”

Sophie’s gaze wavered for a moment, then she quickly denied it. “No, there’s only the two of us here.”

The Rat King’s shifty eyes darted back and forth between them, instantly sensing something was off.

He hurried over in two quick strides, slinging his right arm around Sophie’s waist to stake his claim.

He’d actually wanted to drape his arm over her shoulder, but he was just too short, so he had to settle for her waist instead.

Sophie was about to say more, but when she felt his arm tighten around her waist, a hint of embarrassment flashed across her face.

“She’s mine,” the Rat King declared.

Noah locked eyes with the Rat King and the mutant cheetah. Both could sense the unease in each other’s gaze.

Without paying any attention to the Rat King’s provocation, Noah walked straight to the edge of the crater. The mutant cheetah let out a series of anxious yowls at the pit, its fur bristling all over.

‘Boss, your girl’s gone! Her scent disappeared right here!‘ the mutant cheetah cried in its mind.

Noah and the mutant cheetah shared a bond so deep that just a glance was enough to know what the other was thinking.

Noah’s face suddenly hardened.

As the air pressure shifted, lightning began to surge all around them.

“Where’s Chloe?” Noah demanded.

Suddenly, Noah appeared right beside Sophie.

She looked genuinely surprised, forcing a nervous smile. “What are you talking about? Who’s Chloe?”

Noah gave her a cold, cruel grin. “Just a moment ago, you kept calling her name outside. What, already forgot?

As his murderous aura pressed down on her, Sophie’s face turned deathly pale.

“Rat King, I’m scared,‘ she whimpered, quickly hiding behind him

The Rat King narrowed his eyes, his teeth sharpening right before their eyes. His stubby fingers stretched longer, and his nails became razor–sharp claws.

He swiped his claw through the air, tracing a shimmering arc.

Noah darted back, and a lightning bolt as thick as a bowl crashed down, striking James’s head and turning his hair to ash.

The smell of burning filled the air.

But the Rat King’s face was just scorched black. When he opened his mouth to laugh, a cloud of black smoke puffed out.

“Just a puny level–six power? You think you can take me on?” the Rat King sneered.

He let out a cold laugh, chittering and squeaking nonstop. In the next moment, Noah and the mutant cheetah were swarmed by mutant rats closing in from all directions.

Each mutant rat stood 6.5 feet tall. Though they couldn’t transform, their levels were definitely above level five.

The mutant cheetah let out a wild howl.

At the same time, it swelled to nearly 33 feet tall, dwarfing everything around it.

It wasn’t fazed by the mutant rats at all.

Instead, when the mutant rats saw the cheetah’s massive new form, terror flickered in their eyes, and they could feel the pressure of a true alpha’s bloodline.

The Rat King kept chittering nonstop.

The mutant rats‘ eyes glowed an even deeper red, all fear gone, and now they stared at Noah and the mutant cheetah like hey were ready to tear apart their worst enemy.

Inside the spiritual space, Chloe was sweating bullets for them.

Anyone with half a brain would just run, right?‘ she thought.

They were both strong, and the mutant cheetah was insanely fast. If they wanted to escape, it would be no problem at all.

But what happened next was totally unexpected.

Chloe crushed the tomato in her hand and let out a furious rant.

‘Seriously, are you two brainless? Just run! There’s a level–seven mutant and over a hundred level–five mutant rats. What’s the point in fighting anymore?”

Her eyes were locked onto the light, so tense she didn’t even realize it herself.

Noah stood there, calm and collected, his steely eyes flashing with a cold, dangerous light.

“I’m asking you again. Where’s Chloe? Was it you who killed her?” he demanded.

His voice quivered just a bit, fear showing through.

Even he couldn’t tell what exactly he was afraid of

Spotty let out a deafening roar, its fury echoing through the air as it charged straight at the mutant serpent.

It unleashed the roar right at the Rat King, its eyes burning crimson and overflowing with murderous intent.

Chloe froze when she heard what was going on outside. It wasn’t until the two sides started fighting that she finally realized what was happening.

Wait, do they really think I’m dead?‘ Chloe wondered, her thoughts racing.

Are they actually fighting to avenge me?‘

she hesitated for only a few seconds, but outside the battle had already erupted. Lightning crackled, and the mutant rats‘ vails echoed through the air.

The mutant cheetah was absolutely savage. Every time a rat leaped at it, it simply swiped with its claws. One hit, and a rat vas ripped open on the spot.

Blood and guts splattered everywhere, soaking the ground.

Joah was even fiercer. Before the mutant rats could even get close, lightning rained down, and whole groups of them

ropped dead on the spot.

They turned to ash in a flash as if they had never been there in the first place.

Chitter–chitter–chitter…” The Rat King kept squeaking, rallying more mutant rats to his side.

They surged forward like a tidal wave. No matter how many were killed, fresh hordes kept coming, relentless and Instoppable.

nside the spiritual space, Chloe couldn’t sit still anymore. “Shit, did they just stir up a rat’s nest or what?”

he grabbed ice blades from the mountain and launched them from her spiritual space. Each one sliced right through a nutant rat’s throat, dropping it instantly.

Awooo.” They let out a low growl.

Blitz, she’s not dead, right?” Noah grinned with relief, his face lighting up.

The mutant cheetah nodded energetically.

Those ice blades still have that woman’s scent on them. Oh man, thank goodness, my boss won’t have to be a widow after dl!‘ the mutant cheetah thought, letting out a happy whimper.

With the mutant rats swarming in by the hundreds, Chloe had no choice but to step out.

Chloe, you really are alive!” Noah grinned, looking genuinely relieved,

Chloe rolled her eyes at him. “You wish.”

‘Hell’s Cage!” Chloe cried out.

With her shout, several thick ice walls erupted from the ground, boxing in all the mutant rats.

The walls were so solid that no matter how much the mutant rats scratched and clawed at them, they couldn’t break through.

Noah seized the moment and wiped them out in one sweep.

With their teamwork, the entire horde, hundreds or maybe even thousands, was wiped out, not a single rat left standing.

The two of them just slumped down back–to–back, totally wiped out.

The Rat King’s eyes blazed with fury. “Chitter–chitter… I’ll kill you!”

In an instant, the Rat King vanished and reappeared to Chloe’s left, now transformed into a rat nearly the size of the mutant cheetah.

He brought his massive paw crashing down.

“Careful,” Chloe murmured, giving the lady a gentle, almost imperceptible support as if helping her keep her balance.

He didn’t even think but just threw himself in front of Chloe, shielding her with his own body.

His entire back was left wide open to the Rat King, and in an instant, three long, bone–deep claw marks tore across his skin.

“Noah!” Chloe screamed.

She watched in horror as the three claw marks on his back turned black right before her eyes.

‘Damn, these mutant rats are seriously poisonous!‘ Chloe thought, her heart racing.

The Rat King was about to swipe again, but the mutant cheetah, eyes practically burning with rage, jumped in and blocked him. The two started tearing into each other, fighting like crazy.

*Spotty, you run first. I’ll get your master into the space,” Chloe said, her mind racing.

Spotty paused for a moment, thinking, ‘That crazy woman can disappear in a blink anyway.’ It nodded silently and bolted.
