“That’s him. Chloe thought.

Word was he had a powerful mutant beast with him. It must be this spotted leopard.

Chloe thought, ‘No, I need to leave now. This guy is way too dangerous!

Chloe swallowed her fear and forced a smile, speaking softly to the spotted leopard, “Hey, little leopard, your master needs to heal up. Let me help him.”

Chloe saw that the man’s fever had gone down. She took out a miracle pill and fed it to him. Then she carefully guided a stream of green healing energy into his body.

It was barely anything, just enough to buy her some time.

Finally, the spotted leopard let down its guard. That was when Chloe made her move.

Chloe sprang up in a flash, grabbed the man, and flung him deeper inside before the spotted leopard could even blink.

The spotted leopard went wild, darted forward, rolled across the floor, and just in time managed to catch the man with its belly.

It glared furiously at the stairway, but there wasn’t a trace of Chloe left.

Chloe finally made it up the stairs. She could still faintly hear the angry roars coming from the warehouse, and a shiver ran down her spine.
