“Natalie, Natalie!” Seeing Natalie about to leave, Louisa got so anxious that she stood up and tried to grab Natalie’s arm. But Natalie walked off so briskly that before anyone could react, she’d already left the hospital ward.
I rushed forward to steady Louisa, worried she’d get too worked up. “Grandma, don’t be in such a hurry. Watch out for your health.”
“Go after Natalie right now! No matter what, keep her here first and take her home!” Louisa’s face flushed red, but she didn’t care about her own condition and immediately pushed me out. Natalie had walked so fast that by the time I caught up, she’d already stepped into the elevator. Helpless, I dashed down the stairs all the way to the garage.
I blocked Natalie’s car. It seemed she’d expected me to come, as she stood by the car, phone in hand.
“Natalie, Grandma means well for us… Your gift today was really thoughtful, but isn’t the greatest respect for elders just to follow their wishes? Let’s go home,” I said, trying to reach for her hand.
But she dodged and calmly said into the phone, “Yeah, thanks. I’ve got plenty of evidence here.”
After hanging up, she looked at me, her eyes as cold as knives. “Good that you’re here. Take a look at this.”
She turned the phone screen towards me. On the dash-cam footage, Nathan was like a wild little pup. He’d banged on and scratched the brand-new red Bentley with a steel rod, and then kicked it hard a few times!
I got furious. That little rascal! And where did he get that steel rod?
“Natalie, don’t be in a rush. I’ll call and ask him right away…” I said.
She said as casually as if she were talking about the nice weather, “I’ve already called the police. It’s just a new car, not that expensive, five million dollars. Transfer the money to me directly.”
“Call the police? It’s not that serious, is it?” I couldn’t help raising my voice. “Natalie! He’s just a kid! Why are you making such a big deal out of it?”
“Is he just being naughty, or is there some inborn badness in his blood? Or should I post this video on the family’s internal network and let all the family members judge?” Natalie sneered.
I was stunned by her words. Then she operated her phone. “Oh, it’s already posted. I’ve raised him for two years. The elders should know what he’s really like, so they won’t blame me if he goes astray in the future.”
My phone started vibrating like crazy. Messages in the family’s internal group exploded instantly. The family members’ shocked, accusing remarks and suggestions to send Nathan away poured in, lashing at
“Natalie! He’s our child! You’re going too far!” My face turned bright red. But as soon as the words were out, I realized I’d been too obvious in defending Nathan. And it was really Nathan’s fault this time.

I forced myself to calm down and softened my tone. “Natalie, kids need to be guided gently. What you’re doing will make it hard for him to face people in the Richardson family. Grandma and Mom are still here. You don’t want them to worry, do you? Cancel the police call right away. I’ll pay for the car! And I’ll make Nathan come and apologize to you properly!”
To get Natalie to cancel the police call quickly, I even transferred five million dollars to her right away.
Natalie glanced at the arrival notice on her phone, but there was no change in her expression, as if it were just an insignificant string of numbers.
She opened the car door and said with a final warning, “I won’t cancel the police call. And I think the police’s punishment might be more useful for him than Nathan’s apology. I hope you and that Omega behind you can both reflect on this.”
The car sped away. I was then distracted by the bombarding group messages.
“My God, is this Landon’s pup? How can he be so ill-behaved!”
“Where’s Landon? Why doesn’t he discipline the little pup? It’s so unseemly to smash someone’s car like this!”
“My goodness, those eyes are so scary. He doesn’t look like a five-year-old pup at all!”
“Isn’t this the pup Landon adopted? In my opinion, this pup should be sent away… He’ll definitely cause big trouble when he grows up. Maybe he’ll even drag the pack down!”
