Chapter 143 Don’t Be Nervous

Natalie’s POV:

I’d been with Landon for years, and we’d never crossed the line. Could tonight with Leonardo be my first time? The mere thought had me yanking the covers over my head in a hurry.

When Leonardo emerged from the shower, I felt the other side of the bed dip slightly. He seemed to be wearing nothing but a towel around his waist. Huddled under the covers at the edge of the bed, I felt like a young animal awaiting its fate.

Leonardo first gently tugged at the corner of the blanket. When I didn’t react, he pulled a bit harder and snatched it out of my hands. The sudden chill made me instinctively reach out for warmth and protection. and I ended up grabbing his damp, muscular waist. His skin was warm and firm, with well-defined muscles.

“Missed me already after just a little while?” Leonardo’s low-pitched, teasing laugh rang out above me. He leaned over me, and the water droplets from his wet hair fell onto my face and neck, sending a cold shiver down my spine.

All I could see were his chiseled chest, narrow waist, and the skin that rose and fell slightly with each breath. My hand was still firmly on his waist, and the heat beneath my palm was intense.

“Leonardo, why aren’t you dressed…” I quickly turned my face away, my heart pounding so hard it felt like it was about to burst out of my chest. But my hand seemed to be glued there, and I forgot to let go.

His voice grew even deeper and huskier, sending a shiver through my heart. “With you holding me this tight… it’s kind of hard for me to get dressed.”

That was when I snapped out of it. I quickly pulled my hand back, my cheeks burning

Leonardo didn’t tease me further. He turned and went to the closet to change into a set of dark silk pajamas. Then he came back to bed and lay down beside me. His weight made the mattress sink a bit, and I tensed up all over, waiting nervously for what might happen next.

However, the expected passion didn’t come. There was a soft click, and the last two bedside lamps went out. The room was plunged into darkness, with only a thin stream of cold moonlight seeping through the curtain and landing quietly at the foot of the bed.

“Alright, time to rest. Leonardo’s voice sounded close in the darkness.

Immediately afterwards, a gentle kiss with a warm breath landed on my car. It was just a good-night kiss.

Then, he reached out his arm, pulling me and the quilt into his arms and holding me close. His chest was against my back, and through the thin pajamas, I could clearly feel his steady and powerful heartbeat.

Leonardo whispered in my hair, his voice low, with a reassuring and lazy allure, ‘Don’t be nervous. I’ll just hold you like this tonight.”

“Okay,” I finally managed to relax my tense nerves, murmured softly, and shut my eyes.

Although we were soul-bonded, the thought of taking that final step and fully giving myself to someone still made me feel nervous. The experience of my false relationship with Landon had left a shadow in my heart, making me instinctively wary of intimate contact. Even with Leonardo, the man I loved and wanted to spend the rest of my life with, I needed some time to adjust and build up enough sense of security.

Leonardo always seemed to have an accurate sense of my emotional boundaries. Without asking anything, he showed me the respect and patience I needed most through his actions. Lulled by his steady heartbeat and warm embrace, I gradually slipped into a peaceful slumber.

Grace’s POV:

After waking up from her afternoon nap at the Richardson Villa, Louisa, as per usual, demanded her special coffee. I’d already told the maid to prepare it, but her fussiness was beyond my imagination.

She insisted on only the highest-grade coffee beans. The brewing process was also extremely finicky, with the water temperature having to be just perfect. The slightest deviation would set her off on a tirade.

It wasn’t just the coffee. These past few days, she’d found fault with everything, from the meals to her sleep.

I couldn’t help but wonder. How come I never realized before that Louisa was such a handful?

Louisa complained, “This coffee tastes off! Grace, don’t the people under you understand instructions? Can’t even handle such a small thing properly. Or are you deliberately trying to get rid of me, hoping I’ll leave soon?”

“Louisa, what are you talking about? How could I have such thoughts…” I stifled my impatience and ordered the maid, “Go ahead and brew a fresh òne as required!”

Louisa kept mumbling to herself, “If Natalie were here, this wouldn’t happen. She’s the most meticulous. and considerate.”

Those words were like a tiny thorn pricking my ear. I’d been taking care of her wholeheartedly every day, yet I couldn’t get a single word of praise. Instead, she was singing Natalie’s praises.

I had to admit, when it came to taking care of others, Natalie was truly flawless. According to the old servants, Natalie would regularly prepare honey water for Louisá, give her a massage before bedtime to help her relax, and even the sleep-promoting incense in the room was carefully chosen. With just these few things, she had Louisa completely charmed. No wonder Louisa always loved staying with Natalie.
