Leonardo stared at me, his lips pressed together as he tried to hold his breath. But his powerful chest rose and fell rhythmically. I understood perfectly. He wanted to hear me draw the line with Landon myself. Leonardo appeared calm, but the vein throbbing on his forehead betrayed his roiling emotions.

“Landon! Don’t call me anymore. I’ve made it clear we’re done.” I suppressed the slight tremor in my voice, the lingering effect of Leonardo’s kiss still on me. “And I already have a mate.” I wanted to sound cold and final. But as I said the last words, Leonardo’s hand on my waist tightened. His tongue slipped back into my mouth.

I couldn’t help but let out a muffled voice, and the intimate sound instantly traveled through the receiver.

Landon’s POV:

Before I could recover from the shock, more embarrassing, subtle noises came through the phone. I instantly lost my composure and asked, “Natalie? What nonsense are you talking about? You’re my mate! Who could you possibly be bonded to?”

I growled angrily into the phone, but the only response was clearer, more suggestive gasps and pants.

Leonardo was punishing me with his tender kisses. I hadn’t expected him to be this relentless when angry. He kissed me so fiercely, as if he wanted to devour me whole. I could no longer focus on what Landon was saying, and I could barely breathe.

Suddenly, I clearly felt his change, and that was an instinctive, aggressive Alpha response.

“Natalie, what are you doing? Is it really necessary to go this far just to make me jealous?” Landon tried to keep his voice level, suppressing his anger. He still wanted to talk things out. In his ridiculous, narcissistic logic, the angrier I seemed, the more it proved I still cared about him.

“She’s not trying to make you jealous. She’s just being intimate with me,” Leonardo finally said, his voice heavy with breath and filled with an Alpha’s possessiveness and warning. “If you bother my mate again, I will make you suffer a miserable end!”

With that, Leonardo hung up and tossed the phone aside. I was flushed and breathless, collapsing softly against him. But Leonardo suddenly pulled back, stopping his actions midway.

I immediately wrapped my arms around his neck, not letting go. “Are you angry?” I asked.

“I’m jealous.” He answered so directly that it surprised me. He lifted me down from the counter, his palm gently stroking my cheek. The gesture was tender, but the cold intensity in his eyes hadn’t eased in the slightest.

I explained, “Leonardo, I’m not someone who looks back. From the day I learned the truth, I would never make room for him in my heart again. I’ve already blocked him. If you’re worried…”
