“Liam, what is this?” My voice rose, sharp and shrill. “Am I invisible to you? I’m your fiancée!”

“Why are you bullying her like this?” Liam’s voice was restrained, but the intense fury was unmistakable. “I already explained things to you. Chloe and I aren’t what you think! She has nothing to do with me now. She didn’t cause any trouble today. We settled everything, so why would you do this behind my back?”

I let out a disbelieving laugh, watching how protectively he held Chloe. “Nothing to do with you? I’m your fiancée, yet you defended her at my birthday party, in front of all my friends! Nothing to do with you? And now, right in front of me, you’re holding her, worried about her, and blaming me for her sake!”
